Unfortunately, our dear friend Larry of Headphile never showed. So no K3000 at this meet. It was at the January meet though, and I recall it was quite groovin' there.

The laptop is mine, and I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about...

I finally got around to uploading the few pics I remembered to take:

Cost to Headroom is $900. The actual upgrade to the amp will cost you $1500 ($600 profit!!!)

I'd be really interested in this comparison as well but I think the only people that closely a/b-ed these amps were those who are probably not supposed to comment on it.

Somebody prove me wrong please as I'd love to hear impressions from the balanced Max vs. Headcode!

I think profit is income minus expenses (including labor), but it's been a long time since school for me

They were HP-1's. I'm sorry you didnt get a chance to listen to them, but you didnt really miss much since there really wasnt an amp/source combo that were worthy of the cans by the time I arrived. I try to make the official meets whenever I can so you can catch them next time. On the other hand, if you have a good enough source, you can shoot me a PM if you want to have a listen. Xtreme and I get together a lot to listen to stuff anyway. His amp works quite well with the HP-1's as long as you have a decent source and some competent IC's (which surprisingly make a big difference with the HP's).

I'm sad I missed the meet, oh well, I'll just have to host another in a few months

So I take it nobody made an appearance with electrostats? Did Trevor make it? I'm looking forward to whatever his current experiment is, last meet he had just picked up a pair of stax 404's and was talking about redoing the headband and building a gilmore solid-state.

Here's an idea for the next meet - $50 amp competition ($50 parts limit) - I'd like to see everyone's CMOY and mint mods and see how they really stack up.

I put it under the table to keep it out of the sun (along with my DAC and computer); apparently not too many people look under tables at these things

Well, unless I'm mistaken, there were only 3 DIYers there, including myself (PPL and Larry from Larocco). You can do a lot more than a mint or a CMOY for $50

Hmm, I thought there were more at an earlier meet, but now that I think about it, the January meet only had 4 or 5 (ppl, trevornetwork, xanadu777, eric343, me, I think thats it)

Maybe down at the $25 mark or so, we can get 10-12 people online, then ship them around.

I'd go for the $50.. Then you have the ability to be quite a bit more creative. I'd be down for building something for the next meet if a few other DIYers'll show.
