Hi,
Denon AH-D7000 vs. JVC DX1000 vs. ATH-W5000
have anyone compered all three here? Or gives a thread about here (I dont found).

Why did you place this in it's place?

PS: I have only the D7000 for a test. I search a very good closed headphone, but the D7000 is expensive, and before buy I want to get an overlook what others say about.

I compared the D7000 with my AKG K271 MKII too - it's a difference but not so much - the K271 have another sound impression. I want one closed headphone which a class upper than the K271, at least in the same as my K701.

The other one is the cheaper D2000 - but I don't hear this headphone.

Just a thought, but the W5000 has a completely opposite signature compare to the other two.

Is the W5000 closer to the K701 as the D7000?

I know the difference between D7000 and K701 - I had compared them.

I know the frequency graph from all - seen at HeadRoom.

The W5000 is the odd man out compared to the other two. Given the fact that you own an HD600, and probably enjoy it, i think you'd be safe sticking with the D7000. The ATH-W5000 is a really nice headphone as well, but is very revealing, can have fit issues resulting in terrible isolation which causes very weak bass compared to what you're use to, and requires good amping from a select few amps in order to sound its best. Against the DX1000 the D7000 simply does just about everything better.

this may be weird and I think it's not the popular opinion on headfi but....

When I demoed the ATH-W5000's at a local meet on excellent sources and amps (B22)/Singlepower/headroom they were some of the most boring headphones I have ever heard I wish I could remember more than that but I wrote them off completely. On the other hand I enjoyed the ATH-AD2000 and would say they were better than the K701.

The D5000 is routinely available for about 2/3 of retail. I have never seen the D7000 even slightly less than full price. Is it available at a discount anywhere? If not, is it really worth more than twice the price of the D5000?

Hmm. Not only does that look like a pretty decisive "no" to the question of being worth twice the price of the D5000s, it even looks like it might not be much of a step up from the vastly more affordable D2000s!
I am looking for the last closed headphones that I will ever buy (so good that no upgrade is possible.) Perhaps I am already there (with my DT770s)? Perhaps the D7000 is not a candidate, but the W5000 is? My goal is to put an end to upgraditis once and for all!

In the US or abroad? In the US J&R has the D7000 for $600, free shipping, and about 40 bucks cashback. Most people seem to really enjoy them. True build quality seems about equal to the 5000, none the less people do hear an improvement which signifies either a new or upgraded driver, likewise the headband seems to of been improved a bit to make it more comfy. Is it worth the premium? Like anything thats up to you to decide.

I would certainly suggest not buying the W5000 blind though unless you're prepared to either immediatly sell it or purhase a new amp. Its a picky headphone and may very well sound lackluster with your current setup.

This is a great review of the D5000 by Skylab comparing it to his DX1000.

I know its not D7000 but might still help.

I'm sorry if you got that impression from reading the article. I need to update that page when I have some time as it seems to get frequently mis-interpreted.

I never said the there was no difference between the D2000 and the D5000 and the D7000, nothing like that at all. The differences between the D2000 and D5000 and the D2000 and the D7000 are glaringly obvious to anyone who spends 5 minutes with them. The difference between the D7000 and D5000 is more subtle, but clearly there.

There is a distinction between a "difference" in sound and a "supeiority" in sound. One is an objective fact, A is not like B, the other is a subjective opinion, A is better than B. I note in the review, that as a subjective judgement, even though I couldn't disagree more, some people claim the D2000 sounds "better" than the D5000. There will be people who prefer the D2000 over the D7000 and the D5000 over the D7000 etc. etc. There is no accounting for taste...

Then there is a third question, "is the difference and superiority of A, worth the cost of that upgrade"? This again is totally subjective question. The D7000 (at full retail) costs twice what the D5000 costs. Is the *difference* (relatively small difference) between them worth it? That question assumes you prefer the D7000 over the D5000 which I suspect at least 70% of people will. Now, is that degree of superiority worth $500 extra dollars for you? Who knows, depends on who you are.

I'm a guy with $2K power cords, so of course I own the D7000. YMMV.

WRT to differences in pads what you seeing is the variation in the production of individual pads. Each and every one made by young Chinese hands in God knows what conditions have their own special shape and size and stitching pattern. I've handled hundreds of these pads now, they're all unique little snow-flakes.

There is no difference between the pads of the D7000 and D5000.
