Hey , I'm looking for some affordable sealed headphones. I want good quality cans but I only want to spend between $50-$100. Help me out.

FOTM seems to be the HD201, which is a good deal under your budget, and from all accounts excellent value for money. I'd imagine you can get something better for $100, but it's all about whether it's worth it. Are HD212 Pros really three times better than HD201s?

Also in your price bracket are DT231s, which while not particularly isolating/leak-free do offer great sound for the price, and certainly aren't as leaky as, for example, Grados. And have you thought about canalphones? You can get ER-6is for $72 shipped which is a phenomenal price for these.

Unfortunately for you, $200 seems to be the ideal pricepoint for sealed cans, as that's where you find such heavyweights as DT770, A900, HD280 and K271S.

EDIT - HD280s seem to be heavily discounted though, what a steal

You could also try the Sony MDR-XD400's. They can be found for under $70 and sound very good. Lack of comfort (they seem to clamp a little too hard for some people's taste) and a perceived lack of build quality from the liberal use of shiny black plastic are the only complaints I've heard of thus far. I own a set and can easily recommend them to anyone looking for pretty decent isolation and smooth sound in an affordable set of cans.

HD280 or V6.
IMO the two best closed cans in your price range.

The best deal is a reconditioned pair of HD280's for about $60 shipped. They come with a one-year warranty. I've never heard of a Senn refurb'd ever being lower quality than brand new.
$58.99 plus $1.99 shipping

The seller, eCost, isn't known for customer service, but it's unlikely you would have any problems.

Only when amped imo, but even then the bass is still overhwhelming in non bass-emphasized music. The good thing? You can get the 212s for $30 at Circuit City.
