I'm looking for the best sound in general (at the 300-400 range), but pricewise the SE530PTH is looking pretty compelling at around 300 from ebay sellers with the PTH module. Has anyone used the PTH?

I realize from the reviews that the W3 sounds better all around, but is 300 a fair price for the 530s with PTH considering that? $100 is still enough scratch to save to go with a slight degradation in sound quality, but not more than a slight one. The PTH normally seems to go for $55 so that seems like another incentive and something I'd use (it allows you to hear stuff around you when you activate it without taking the buds out).

Or is there a chance the W3s might get discounted after Xmas? I heard about the 30% off deals but there are none around right now. If there was a chance of getting that deal in the next month or so I'd wait for that.

Even better...

Drop the PTH and get the SE530 for $250 then. Is it so hard to simply take a bud out of your ear to listen to someone?

I don't know about the Shures, but my Ety 6is were a royal pain to take out and get seated back in with a proper seal. No thanks if I don't have to.

The SE530s without PTH are only $20 cheaper anyway.

I've got the 530 with the PTH-- I don't use it all the time because it really makes a nest of wires in my pocket, but it works pretty well.

If you're married, I'd strongly recommend it. My wife always seems to decide that she wants to talk right after I get them seated properly-- not having to pull them out several times a song is well worth the $20 to me. I don't think that it would be worth $50 though.
