When the drums and opera rap kicks in, I can't help but think of Miles Davis's On The Corner. Is this a sin? Wow this is like 20 minutes long isn't it... I can't help but think I could be listening to good music instead. I stopped it at 5 minutes

Here's the "most wanted song"
While less "bad sounding" it's very uninteresting =\

I'm going to download this and play it on long car rides. It has nothing on Brokencyde in terms of sheer unlistenability though.

I actually think it WAS entertaining and interesting. It was made with a sense of humor, and a wink to its audience. I wouldn't put it on my playlist, but I'm glad I heard it, even just to measure my reactions against it.

I think the makers inadvertently created something fun and fairly relevant...

And of course this is annoying, it's 20 minutes. Almost any song is annoying at 20 minutes. Imagine it at normal song length, like 3 or even 5 minutes. Compress all the fun stuff together. They'd really be onto something.

I love that by collating what people say they hate, they actually did something unique.

I once did some research ABOUT focus group discussions, so I infiltrated a few FGDs, mostly for drinks and food, but a few times for movies and commercials.

The food and drink stuff was fairly straightforward, but the movie discussions were VERY interesting. The things people say they DON'T like in their movies and advertisements were things that made my favorite movies. It's amazing what people say they don't want. Violence, ambiguous characters, shifts in tone, quiet moments, etc...

My experience with those movie fgds turned me off to the whole idea completely. getting people in a room together and asking them to answer questions about what they liked and didn't like was the most unnatural and unproductive exercises ever.

Even on the food and drink fgds, it was very silly. I'd play games like suggest that there was a hint of strawberry in the four seasons mix, and soon EVERYONE was tasting the strawberry.

ANYWAY.

About this song, I'd still take this over soul-less tweener music. Hillary Duff's first album, or Miley Cyrus stuff.

I'd take this over the Jonas Brothers.

And I'd take this over 'My Humps' ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

The only thing that I really disliked about it was the children singing about walmart and christmas, and I felt that that was just a cop out because it did sound very dissonant in those parts. The rest of it was pretty awesome.

Also, did anyone listen to "the most Wanted Music" song, because it was a lot worse than "the most unwanted music" song.
