Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

I had mentioned before, using the CXC Transport for 2 years now, VERY GOOD!
Beat the hell out of my Marantz SA15 LTD as a transport.
SO why buy all the extra DAC and electronics in a full CD player?
Yes it only has SPDIF RCA and Optical outs, Works nicely with a Lifatec optical cable too.
The SPDIF/RCA cable matters! Choose wisely. My listening is mostly CD through the Yiggy.

...I do not believe the price was ever $450. It was $499. It was since raised to $599 in conjunction with Emotiva's announcement (perhaps 18 months ago now) that they will not be offering any more "sale" prices. The price of virtually all of their gear was raised at that point. There is no reason other than needing/wanting to make additional profit on the unit, not that any parts or design were changed.

They've been studying their Schiit.

Herb Reichert has brief review of Analog 2 in current issue of Stereophile.
Apparently he was using V1 for a while, so he has some valid comparisons.
I was persuaded to hop on the upgrade list... at #196! :/
Might take a couple days to get to No. 1.

A couple of days? I really hope for your sake that you're being sarcastic or satirical with that... I got in on the queue on March 1st, at position #231 or thereabouts. Today, August 18th, I am in position 9 of 186, after 5 months of waiting in the queue. I am not complaining since I have had my Yggy 1 (USB 5) with me to enjoy during this whole waiting period... I am just prompting you to be prepared to wait in line for more than two months at the very least (taking that as a very liberally conservative estimate), in case you did not know that already.

It seems I was very lucky to get my A2 upgrade done so quickly in UK.
It was certainly money well spent.:)

I want to pull the trigger on Yggy 2 for my setup... but the price is hurting me.. especially after I just got an auteur and atticus. Argh. I think i'll wait for a few months to save money. I tried to look for a cheaper dac that could compete with yggy but clearly that doesn't exist.

If you want to wait a few months, get on the list now. They don't charge your card until the work is done.

Reichert: "Analog 2's sound was quieter, more refined, more transparent, more silky, more tactile. If you liked the Yggdrasil, you'll love the Analog 2. I promise."
I know about the wait. I ordered the upgrade in January and waited a while. I have another Yggy in a system I don't use that much, but decided to do that one also.

You know, it just occurred to me. It's not just the yggy update that's causing the delay. I'm also in the queue for a bifrost update that should have nothing to do with the yggy availability other than Manpower. So I'm thinking it's more of a Manpower issue that a parts supply issue??? Unless they're running a truly serial update\service process.??

Herb got this review right.

You guys think Ygg2 is worth it in my system with my headphones assuming I am simply running flacs off foobar 2000? Never plan on getting cd transport or music server. Would gumby pretty much be all that I need?

I am going to get a custom Tube amp to connect yggy to.

Has anyone here heard the Denafrips Terminator? The couple of reviews I've found on the Terminator put it ahead of the Yggy. I own the Yggy A2 and would give the Terminator a chance to dethrone the Yggy if they offered a return policy... but they don't. Any insight?
