**** be prepared to spend a high multiple of Vali 3 price to equal / better Vali 3 sound. Oh, chez moi, Vali 3 is more than making do ...

No doubt it probably can't be beat for the price. Next step is a SET amp, certainly many many more times than what this costs!

I'm not much of a tube roller but I'm thinking about trying a GE Five Star 5670 and a GE Jan 5670W in my Vali 3. But my WE396A sounds so good!

I first heard the Vali 3, last Saturday, at a meet-up, with a GE Five Star 5670 tube. I liked it so much, I ordered the amp that night from Schiit's site. In fact, everyone at the meet liked the Vali 3, and we were surprised to see that it was able to drive the Mod House Tungsten (albeit, on high gain, with the pot at around 3 PM, but still...).
Anyway, the amp arrived today. I'm waiting on the 5670 tubes from eBay, but even with the stock tube, it sounds good to me. And the bass is [chef's kiss]. It's really making my Diana sing.

I got mine for $12 each but that was a few months ago. I think that we've created a demand for some tubes with our talk here and the prices could have gone up.
