Nobody has made a thread discussing the Schiit Valhalla 2's or the Schiit Lyr 2's sound quality, gain output and how they differ from each other. What are the difference between the two when driving different types of headphones from low to high impedances, and how much of a difference does tube rolling affect these amps?

Anyone who has experience with both amps in terms of what I have described above?

Thanks.

Start with what they are designed to do--from the FAQ's at Schiit:

"What headphones are Valhalla really good for?
Valhalla is still going to be at its best with high-impedance headphones like the 300 ohm Sennheisers and 250-600 ohm Beyers. With up to 60V p-p output capability, it can absolutely light up 300 and 600 ohm headphones—delivering almost a full watt into 300 ohms (!) However, it's now also perfectly capable with a wide variety of low-impedance dynamic designs, and has enough power for some high-efficiency planars."

--------------------------------------------------------------------

"Are you saying that Lyr 2 is now quiet enough to run IEMs?
Many of them. Although Lyr 2 will never be as quiet as Asgard 2 or Magni, it’s pretty darn quiet in low gain mode. And really—think about what putting 6 watts directly to your eardrums means. Is that such a great idea?

Why the hell do you need a 6 watt headphone amplifier for IEMs?
You don’t. But you might want it for your orthos. Lots of people have lots of different headphones."

Looking for more of a "subjective" and "artistic" opinion between the two amps; how they compare in terms of gain used. For example, between the two amps, at what "o'clock" does the volume pot needs to be increased if using a particular headphone, AKG K712 say?

I'm looking for those kinds of descriptions.

Thanks.

Hopefully others here can help you with that.
