The problem:
Audio player crashes after 3-10 minutes when playing music through ASIO or WASAPI and the device becomes unresponsive until system reboot.

The Setup:
Dell 1720 Win 8.1 -> Schiit Modi -> Amp

Driver: Window USB audio driver
Programs tried: Foobar, jriver, mediamonkey (all crash using either ASIO via asio4all or WASAPI)
Misc: I've also tried 3 different usb ports and 2 different usb cables.

I just switched from using a Nuforce UDAC 2 using foobar and WASAPI to Modi. The udac worked perfectly, the Modi only works with direct sound.

Any ideas would be appreciated. I've run out.

See if you can update to the latest audio drivers.
Maybe try disabling on-board audio (in the BIOS).
