I just received my new MJ2 and noticed a few fine scratches in the face of the volume knob. No big deal there, I can live with it or change it out.
What I would like to know from other MJ2 users is, does your volume pot feel kind of firm? My MJ2 pot has more resistance compared to the Alps pot on my Sunrise III & my Mapletree Mad Ear+HD, which are very smooth and fluid.
The other thing that's odd is that if you leave the pot alone at a certain setting and come back to adjust up or down it has this feeling that it's locked in place and then breaks free. It's very subtle, but still noticeable. The volume knob is a little warm about 108 degrees.
The amp sounds great with factory tubes for now. If this is the norm on the volume control I guess I'll live with it. I'm that kind of guy with my hand always on the knob adjusting up or down. I don't think pots ever really wear in, my other two Alps feel like they did when they were new.
