Had anyone experienced any noise using the balanced out on the jotunheim? I read a review where the reviewer stated he heard noise using the balanced section and that the single end section sounded better.

I use both the XLR Headphone and the XLR pre-out on the jotunheim and I personally don't experience this noise issue, I had my Jotunheim for an long time now.

The reviewer of the Jot, https://nablur.wordpress.com/2017/03/29/schiit-audios-jotunheim/ stated the same thing about another amp, in another review, that was linked to from his Jot review. Perhaps he had some setup issue, like a bad cable, bad 4 pin on his DAC, etc. Seems strange to have the same issue with two amps.

The V281 amp had some issues too. The volume pot. on this amp would cause grinding noises, distortion, when moved during playback. This coupled with the poor-sounding 4-pin balanced output made me question the entire topology and quality of this amp. The single ended output sounded great and with a fix to the pot. I can easily recommend this amp. If you are looking into this amp be sure to understand how it differs from the V200 as you can save some cash.
