Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Here's a question for the masses. I have a hearing imbalance that is not terrible, but noticeable. I find that adding a couple clicks of gain to the right ear make a noticeable change in soundstage. Most of my components have built in balance control (thank you Schiit!). I ordered a passive balanced preamp that has separate R and L controls. I figured this could go between my phono pre and the Freya N.

My thought is to use a SYS on just the left channel to attenuate just the left channel. So I would have the source connected directly to the amplifier for the right channel. I would then have one channel of the SYS between the source left output and amplifier left input.

Is this a good or bad idea? It's not elegant and, depending on this passive pre I've ordered, might be a temporary fix. This would only be for my analog sources since Roon does digital balance control for my streaming endpoints. Anyone have thoughts? Thanks.

This sounds like a good solution to me. I see no real downside to it.

Perfectly reasonable. I did that with a SYS several years ago, when my home office setup had one speaker closer to me than the other. Worked just great.

5:50am is a totally normal time to be at work, right?
Asking for a friend…
My ideal start time is around 11:00am. Pity I haven’t had that in over 20 years. There is no good reason to be up before the sun.

Definitely an audiophile teaching opportunity...

"This stereo sounds like ass!"
"Este estéreo suena como culo!" - Spanish
"Questo stereo fa proprio schifo!" - Italian
"Cette stéréo sonne comme un cul!" - French
"Diese Stereoanlage klingt beschissen!" - German
"เสียงสเตอริโอนี่มันเหมือนอะไรวะ!" - Thai

I prefer the first five REM albums when they were still an exciting new jangle-punk band on IRS Records. Then they went pop.
.... I feel the same way about early U2 .... then they acted important .... Bono at Davos World Economic Forum? .... [Frank Zappa title: 'Shut Up N Play Yer Guitar']

I think it's ironic that musicians used to play for royalty, then they pretended they didn't, then they go to world "leaders" summits....
