Thanks. I'll listen to these in Cabin B Level 5 on the USS Endurance. You see, I'm a newly graduated member of Starfleet.Happy Wednesday (or Hump day, or 1/2 price margaritas day, or Thursday if applicable)!!
And for the non-Jazzers...

Isn't dielectric grease an insulator?Use a cotton swab to apply dielectric grease to all the pins, both the socket savers and tubes. You can find it at most auto parts stores, or Amazon.

Yep. DeoxIT is all I use.

Me too. Non-conductive, but not an insulator. DeoxIT improves contact quality - Red to clean any contact, Gold to clean and protect plated (esp. gold) contacts..Yep. DeoxIT is all I use.
I used to use dielectric grease on the tail lamp sockets of my 1990 BMW to keep them from corroding, due to condensation. I would be concerned that dielectric grease would increase the electrical resistance of that socket saver, as it has ~20 kV/mm dielectric strength.
I guess that if the tube fit properly into the socket, the grease would be pushed out of the contact zone, but... hmmm.
Valhalla 3 is back on my desk, and oh boy did I miss it. Listening to my Weekly Q:
Thank you to everyone at Schiit for the quick turnaround.

Little hail is OK, it's the big stuff that hurts!Lol! Also, when you live in areas with pretty rambunctious storms, you get a free car wash on a regular basis. A little hail just adds some abrasive to the mix and gets the car even cleaner. Win-win!![]()

The first brand new car I bought got caught in a storm a week after I got it. Was driving it at the time and couldn't make it under an overpass before it was dimpled like a golf ball. Luckily no glass broken. Unfortunately the insurance I had specifically excluded that type of damage. So I kept the car until I'd really had value from it, and didn't loose too much on the sale many years later.

Not here to lecture you but, I hope you do not end up losing money on the shed. HOA's can be brutal. In our neighborhood, the HOA prohibits any permanent structure such as a shed. I've somehow fit two cars in the garage anyways, but may get a shed to see how closely they enforce it.

I can't imagine gooping up my tube sockets with dielectric grease. Clean is good, but goop absolutely not needed and likely far more detrimental than beneficial.Me too. My neighbor is on the board, we have some...ideas.Not here to lecture you but, I hope you do not end up losing money on the shed. HOA's can be brutal.
The hood wraps around a country club and golf course, so having an HOA was to be expected. Besides, I haven't gotten any letters about the semi-hidden chicken yet

That is the correct answer, even if you are @bcowen!I can't imagine gooping up my tube sockets with dielectric grease. Clean is good, but goop absolutely not needed and likely far more detrimental than beneficial.

Lots of good reasons for using the garage for something other than car storage - your situation is just one of many.I started a business from my garage once upon a time and as far as dollar value I cleared $97k my first year during a time when a car might be $25-$30k. Historically businesses might lose money their first year, break even the second etc.(not me)
There are exceptions to everything and it seems like I have heard of other companies that started in a garage. Not that I approve of filling a garage with junk and leaving vehicles outside of course.
OTOH my brother has 2 cars worth ~$70K sitting in the sun/rain while the garage shelters 2nd/3rd hand furniture, boxes of magazines/text books and hand-me-down kid's clothes worth virtually nothing in actual dollars. His situation is what makes me shake my head and wonder where he learned his sense of value.

That's reflective of high home prices in Canadian cities $.Like the folks down the street from me with 2 Mercedes, a BMW, and a new Range Rover parked in a bungalow's driveway.![]()
The rain has stopped and it's time for music while sipping a dram of whiskey tonight.
Listening on the two-channel system this evening. First I played my new vinyl copy of Bennie Maupin's The Jewel in the Lotus from @sixergixer's recommendation earlier this week (I couldn't resist picking up the LP before they vanished). Simply splendid.
Now, via Qobuz, it's this wondrous recording. (Yeah, yeah, admittedly I'm a serious Shostakovich bobo.) The Lento movement from the Piano Concerto No. 1 is playing right now. Glorious!
Hope everyone is having a fine evening.
