Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Watching Star Wars! If you have to ask you don't know.
So a future potential in-law (via niece) was in Japan for some jumbo star wars convention a couple weeks ago, and OMG some of the merchandising! $3k machined chess sets, jeweled little gold figurines. Robotics and costumes everywhere...

If Safeway was awesome. 😉

This gives the sense of the thing

Pretty much. Even the “non-plus” HEB’s were uniformly excellent.. may I recommend highly their Parmesan-encrusted baked green beans? <grin>

HEB/HEB+/Central Market: More IS better. Miss it a ton. (Oh, and while you’re there, you can renew your drivers license, or car registration, or… ).

The country needs the HEB model for grocery (first) retail. Walmart scale. (Used to be) Whole Foods or Wegman’s quality. And great prices.

They didn’t even get to the MEAT section!

Since we’re sharing, my crossover.

Question: do those capacitors suffer leakage (both physical and electrical) over time, and if they do, does it damage the circuit in any way? I'm only familiar with headphones (and the ones I have don't have caps an coils stuck to the headbands)!

There was a pair of Danish speakers on Canuck Audio Mart, with the seller saying that the crossovers had to be recapped (to get more performance out of them). It scared me away from making them my first pair of towers. Free advice, please. :)

We thought we knew Balsamic, until we were in Modena. We bought 5 different types after checking out a few makers and shops. Bliss. Problems arose later when we ordered directly - fancy bottles and packaging, but not the same. We will be there in September and we'll be picking up some more, perhaps a lot more. Looking forward to some Amarone and Barolo as well.

We will keep an eye out for Giusti as well!

These are the folks I order from...infrequently. Parmigiano Reggiano too!

Giusti is just outside Modena, from memory just one train stop plus a 20 min walk in the country. They also have outlets, we visited the one in Bologna and looks like they have them also in in Modena, Milano and Firenze. The tour/tasting was free at Casa Giusti.

There are many, many more good ones as well. We picked Giusti on a friend's recommendation.

Most envious of your upcoming travels!

I approve of your priorities.
I'm torn. I love new toys. I listened several years to a Lyr 3 as a pre to an Jotunheim 2, with a Bifrost 2/64 as the DAC.

From Dec. '24 I've changed to a G2 into a M3. I've yet to listen to my Lyr 3 as a preamp, although I have numerous very good 6SN7 tubes.

The G2 M3 sound is perfect, with a Lokius on the side.

What does a Vahalla 3 replace?

The caps in the above crossover from @corndog71 look like film (polyester mylar, polypropylene, polystyrene, pps) types and do not suffer from leakage, but some dielectric materials can be slightly hydroscopic and absorb moisture if stored in damp environment. The electrolytic type capacitor can dry out or leak electrolyte over time, generally exhibit higher leakage current and non-linearity vs the film types, but also typically offer higher capacitance and volumetric efficiency.

Re-capping not that difficult if one can solder. Polystyrenes have translucent casing & aluminum foil, typ found in smaller values only (use as bypasses) & on the surplus market, also more sensitive to overheating during soldering.

Some boutique film caps can get pricy though.

Danish speakers using dynaudio, scan-speak, vifa, or other hi-qual drivers worth recapping, esp if avail for a good price

Nice! Red Rocks has been a bucket list item of mine for quite a while, however there's only a couple bands that I'd actually come out of concert retirement to make the trip for.
Had to relo to Denver for work several years ago. My wife and I had to visit and find a place to live. It was high cost compared to where we were coming from, and we were pretty discouraged. I happened to see that Diana Krall was playing Red Rocks with the Denver Symphony Orchestra the next night and was able to get last minute 3rd row seats. That’s pretty much all we remember of the trip.

Question: How would one add the Valhalla 3 RCA output into my existing main set up? I was hoping to find a way to get it through to my passive speakers. Thing is I don't own a power amp. Only an integrated.

Margaritas, everyone!

In somewhat positive news, I guess, I had ordered a GMKtec k10 mini PC from China to run Roon, HQPlayer, plex, SongKong, all things music. I thought for sure I was going to get caught in the tariff mayhem… unknowable tariff amount, chaos at port of entry… and I think it just cleared without any customs peep? No chicken counting, I tell myself, though perhaps I am doing exactly that right now!

I'm not getting a VH3. I have way too many extra audio pieces that don't even get used. Next big purchase is a Pellet Smoker. Probably a Traeger Woodridge Pro.

Want to make some Texas style BBQ here in Eastern PA.
BBQ in Eastern PA sounds great!
If you’re looking for a new toy to spice things up, have you tried the Meze Elite?
I’ve got a ZMF Caldera sitting around. But enjoying the Elite for now.
