And the realist says the glass is always full. It can be a mixture or combination but there's always 'something' filling the glass. Nature abhors a vacuum.
In the olden days they didn’t know a majority of the universe is a near perfect vacuum.

Nope.

Well, now you know.

Y'all are massively overthinking this. We're doing Singular not because it's better, not because of supply chain stuff, not because of cost.

We're doing Singular because…
- …it's not been done before
- …it's fun to try new things
- …we can
You left out:
- ... when we tried it, it didn't sound like A*S.

... upsampled anything less thanthan redbook. ... removes many of the nasties - ....
IMO, upsampling to ridiculous levels just makes the analog processing of the DAC easier.

The other thing people do is convert to high rate DSD because the internals of their DAC (often ESS) work better with that. IMO, probably because it circumvents some of the objectionable processing those DACs do.

Good DACs, not needing the above baby sitting, can be had for around $2-3K from a lesser known Texas-based company....

When DSD? The ESS and Singularity can easily decode it natively, no filters needed other than a low pass filter. You can add it as an exclusive Forkbeard feature too ;)

Nothing better than grandchildren. You have time, experience, patience, money, wisdom that you probably dd not have when your own child was born, during which time you may be still establishing a relationship, one or two careers, housing, etc;

The way i put it is i could be mowing my lawn and if my parents or my best buddy or you come over i am going to finish mowing before i engage. if one of my 3 grandkids come over I'm going to stop mowing and don't care if i don't finish for a couple of days

All 3 are local and we pick up our 8 year old grandson from school every Monday afternoon and have him until 7:30 or so at night.

Here is the 8 year old in his early days

Amen! Blessings, indeed. And DEFINE “cute” <insert choice here, ad infinitum>

Just got the first “decent” shot… Father and son (yeah, my son sorta has my hairline but worse, so he’s decided to rock it))

Planning trips now.

I have a good friend who is an audiophile snob and dealer in high-end equipment like Genesis, German Physiks, Merrill, Electrocompaniet, EMM Labs, Horning, etc... anyway I was talking to him about DACs and he made a distinctly disgusted noise at the mention of Schiit Audio. "You own that? Isn't it cheaply made?" he asked. No, I repleid, and also it sounds superb, better than my Wavelength or Aurender did. "No way," he insisted. I made him a wager - if he did not think the Yggdrasil was a great sounding DAC that competed with units costing 10X the price, I'd buy him a bottle of his favorite Don Julio 1942. If he would listen and admit it was a great piece of kit, he had to buy me a bottle of Bruichladdich Black Art. "You're on" he said. I set some ground rules about the listening test and told him I did not expect him to be honest about his results, but it was worth the cost of some 1942 just to know he had given the Yggdrasil a try. My Yggdrasil is going into its box and shipping to New Jersey tomorrow. :)

I would also recommend trying a LISST while they’re available. I thought it sounded better than the couple of tubes I tried. Oh, and pick up a tube extender for ease of removal.
I wish Noval LISSTs were still available.
