Yup. My old business partner and I use to go through 3 - 4 pots a day between the 2 of us. A little over a decade ago I cut back to 3 - 4 cups a day, then about 5 years ago I went to a single cup a day in the morning. Now if I have more than that single cup I get mega wired, but on the plus side I can now buy good coffee and actually enjoy it and not go broke. As someone who used to drink 12 cups of coffee a day, I can relate.![]()

The cartridge shield is tied to the tonearm or tonearm mount and to chassis ground, I am not aware of it being tied to the green cartridge connection in my experience but most of my turntables are older. Something else that is good to know, high output cartridges need shielded wires and that includes twisted pairs. I am using twisted pairs on the wooden headshells I am building. For phono TT (using MM cart & RCA connections) to Skoll phono-pre using a shielded twisted-pair cable, shield is connected at the source-end as per line-level interconnects? Aware that many (most???) MM carts tie the internal shield to R-.

I ordered mine April 1 and it still haven’t been shipped. Waiting, waiting, ….@rkw My RCA Living Stereo odyssey has taken an interesting detour. I found a set on eBay listed from a seller in Japan for a decent price and bought it, then several days later I received a message from the seller apologizing stating that as he was packing it up to ship he realized that it was the Korean version. If I still desired it he'd give me a discount, otherwise I could cancel and he'd get a refund processed quickly for me. Well, let's just say my Korean is just a bit rusty, and while it might have been a rather surreal experience to get it, my better judgment prevailed, so I canceled and that was that. On a lark, I clicked the link you provided several pages ago, and lo and behold, there was still a copy to be had from the Amazon Germany store. The price had risen by a few bucks but I placed the order then and there and even with international shipping and the exchange I still saved a little money compared to my original order. Once again thanks for the link!My dBpoweramp Music Converter remains primed and ready for its arrival. (Has anyone else who took advantage of this gotten their set yet?)
Now--in a complete change of pace--I'm playing Peter Gabriel's So. I still recall how entertained I was by the Sledgehammer video on MTV back in the day. I enjoy his duets with Kate Bush and Laurie Anderson on this record, as well as Daniel Lanois's immaculate production. Going from Sam to this is a bit of a sonic whiplash but some B-in-B rye from @sixergixer is easing matters somewhat.![]()

Must have been one hell of a storm...So I stumbled across this and literally laughed out loud because
- it reminded me of the many XKCD comics on standards, cables, etc. (the universal converter box is a personal fav)
- i realized i have been around so long that not only do i recognize all of them, I have used most of them in my life. and still have a box stuffed with a few of them hiding in my basement, 'just-in-case' i need them some day

Oh god oh dear god centronics 50 pin flashback, AT keyboard DMS59 I think I’m having petit mal seizures, now I know what my daughter means when she says she has trypophobia I’m melting over here this is not good, gonna have to go listen to some Jimmy Rowles to recover…still have a box stuffed with a few of them hiding in my basement, 'just-in-case' i need them some day
I saw them too, while Billy Kilson was still in the band, so it had to be before 2006 (Nate Smith was the drummer for 2006's Critical Mass). The interplay between the musicians was astonishing and Dave's bass and direction tied it all wonderfully together. The run of albums Holland did from 1999 to 2010 (whether it was with his Quintet, Sextet, Octet, or Big Band) are simply astonishing. (Yeah, you could call me a fan.Steve Nelson! I heard the Dave Holland "classic" quintet a couple of times some 25 years ago at the old departed Painted Bride with Nelson, Chris Potter, Robin Eubanks, and different drummers (not Bill Kilson as in the albums, I think one might have been Nate Smith). Unforgettable.
His Violin Concerto in D, Op. 77. Like you @bcowen it was one of the gateway pieces into classical for me too (you mean, Marilyn Manson didn't drive you to the genre?Which Brahms? I grew up on Sy. 4 but more recently it's Sy. 3 that I get drawn to. An enigmatic work.

Thanks for the update. Hope you get yours soon. I'll remain patient. Don't mind waiting. Better than if the other Korean set had appeared unexpectedly and I opened it and went wt*.I ordered mine April 1 and it still haven’t been shipped. Waiting, waiting, ….

Is this the vinyl release, or are you thinking of an obscure release that is not on the discogs database?Mine is Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section
Followed by Miles Davis Kind of Blue

Calexico is fabulous.I really like some of Iron and Wine records, and the two collaborations with Calexico are extraordinary. But damn if seeing them about the time of Garden State is still the most boring live show I’ve ever bought a ticket to go see. It was excruciating. Every single song, for the entire set was exactly the same tempo. But then again, I happen to have spun this tonight while cooking dinner and it was a nice listen indeed.

I saw it talked about on their website, no new copies were available and it appears those on discogs are used.Is this the vinyl release, or are you thinking of an obscure release that is not on the discogs database?

Lol! I didn't drink bourbon back then, and Marilyn Manson requires 1) bourbon, and 2) a volume control that goes to 11.His Violin Concerto in D, Op. 77. Like you @bcowen it was one of the gateway pieces into classical for me too (you mean, Marilyn Manson didn't drive you to the genre?). Although the very first piece I loved was Chopin's Prelude No. 7 in A major as a young child. I vividly remember my grandmother--who was a piano teacher, church organist, and would play music in theaters to accompany silent films--very (very) patiently teaching me as a 4 year old to (sort of) play it on her baby grand piano in her home.

Lol! I didn't drink bourbon back then, and Marilyn Manson requires 1) one bourbon, one scotch, and one beer and 2) a volume control that goes to 11.![]()

According to Pro-Ject's paper on their "True Balanced" TTs, cables, etc, MM typically does tie its ground to R-The cartridge shield is tied to the tonearm or tonearm mount and to chassis ground, I am not aware of it being tied to the green cartridge connection.
