Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I love photographic prints as much as the next guy, but getting photos back scanned as digital images is just the way most people utilize their photographs these days, and it's not just young so-called "clueless idiots". It seems easy to just bag on the younger generations these days for their apparent idiocy but the young people I have worked with throughout my life have been plenty smart and plenty clever. Images are just displayed and shared online these days, and if wanted, they make framed digital displays that peeps can use to display a slideshow of their favorites on the mantel.

Sorry if that's a little rant-y but I've seen a few too many comments in my time in this forum lambasting the youth of today when it's not necessarily always warranted. I feel kind of called to stick up for them. 🙂

My experience is they can indeed be smart and hard workers. At least those whom I’m exposed to, but then I’m in tech software, so it’s a pretty “selected” subset I would think…

But per my son and his friends, there is something not quite right with the current under 26 or so crop of youngsters on average, females in particular. He says they are ridiculously shallow, basically. He’s given up on dating for the foreseeable future for that very reason, to concentrate on his engineering career and saving to buy his first house. (Both of which of course are sensible). Of course his cohort of friends in the 25-27 year old range, are now all engineers, opthalmalogists, dentists, etc., so maybe that plays in (higher standards, maybe)? But, the stories they have shared with us over meals and visits - shudder - lets just say I’m glad it’s not me going through it. It is demonstrably different than in the past.

Hear the call for all and the chosen ones
Far away, but all like one
Come together, we've just begun
Chant 'til Valhalla (3) comes
Chanting 'til Valhalla (3) comes

See the light break free
In the darkest of night
Just keep on fighting 'til the break of dawn
'Til Valhalla (3) comes

Your son and his friends are mistaken.
Respectfully.
Picking the worst case examples out of an entire generation of people that covers a vast range of cognitive capacity might make for an entertaining dinner conversation, but it does not make for a conclusive and fair assessment of an entire generation.
I'm sure we can all agree that one might find some real duds within any given age cohort.

And with this, I would highly appreciate if we could move on from this and not revisit this topic (or any other that excludes or insults entire groups from this Stammtisch) any time soon, please and thank you.

Well said. I still work with plenty of college and graduate students and have not seen a drop off over the last 12 years.

I’ve become busy so I haven’t kept up with the thread as much as I’d like—any ETA on Valhalla 3 release?

Additionally, I’m still weirdly emotional about Asgard 3 no longer in the lineup—it’s still a great amp, one I prefer over Midgard. Hopefully a follow up Asgard+ will rejoin the lineup in due time. I may believe my Pietus Maximus to be a superior headphone amp, but I still come back to the Asgard 3 on my desk (fed via Bifrost 2/64) for the wonderful sound signature it is known for…

Even with a wonderful set of speakers in nearfield, You’ll find Asgard 3 still has a special place on my desk setup, and there are times when I grab my HD620S to listen to new music while my wife works—we converted our second bedroom to our office, both of us work from that room, so if I want to listen during work hours, that means a closed back—and I will lose track of time after a few hours of Roon Radio.

Asgard 3 is just so pleasing to use. I know I’ve commented about the Asgard 3 departure before, but it’s been on my mind lately. Pour one out for the headphone amp that truly got me hooked on this hifi/audiophile hobby.

Thanks to Schiit for giving me such a gift in the way of great music reproduction 🫡

Happy St. Patrick’s day!!!

This is a day for me to play favorite Irish music by the Pogues, Chieftains, and Clancy Brothers. Later I will scan radio stations in Ireland for more music.😜☘️☘️

... the current under 26 or so crop of youngsters on average, ... in particular....
Also, a particularly sexist comment. My eldest says the same thing about the other gender.

Let's refrain from any -ism other than music-lover-ism.

HST, I haven't heard any Irish music that I find pleasing. Irish Singers, sure, (Sinead!), folk songs, not so much. Don't particularly like folk in any case.
