Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Either would have to go to Yggy with a coax cable or S/PDIF
If by S/PDIF you mean optical which is what I assume, then in my experience I've never had Yggy, Gumby, or any of the lineage of Bifrost DACs except the very latest version which I do not have accept 24/192 over optical. 24/96 never a problem. That's if 24/192 is an important factor.

24/192 never a problem over coax.

YMMV but Unison USB would have my money as sounding best of the bunch.
But now bad can coax sound? Another YMMV

I will say my little WIIM Mini is a great little device that just easily works, but I use it as a WI-FI streamer. There's much dabate about WIIM here if you sift through lots of posts. Affordable way to try streaming for the masses though. Don't know about the Cambridge. Sorry. Might help a little.

OK, eclipse is over. Time to get some Schiit done.

I’m running NAS based ripped CD digital music files through Audirvana and Qobuz through the app from my new Mac Mini Pro to the Yggdrasil GS2+ /Unison (using USB), MJ3, Meze Empy IIs.

Would I receive material sonic benefit if I bought a Cambridge Audio MXN10 or a WIIM Pro and hooked them up directly to my local network via Ethernet Cat 5? Either would have to go to Yggy with a coax cable or S/PDIF. This rig is only used for my headphne listening. I have some two channel gear in the living room that will need upgrading when I finish my headphone setup.

Thanks for opinions.
Assuming that you ripped the CDs in FLAC or ALAC, otherwise there is no reason to care. I also did the same with a large NAS and I use it two ways, USB directly out to the Yiggy and NAS to WIIM Pro to Yiggy via coax. Prefer the USB to Yiggy Unision. The only reason I bought the Wiim Pro is because Synology has dropped support for their DSAudio application that drives the USB output.

I forgot just how good the Saga S sounds. Using it along with Loki Mini to voice crossovers and break in bass cabs and the top cabs.
Woo Hoo
I am very interested in the next chapter for the Saga whenever it comes out, but they really need to get over their juvenile power switch placement or put a standby switch on the front panel. Otherwise it will be a non starter for me at this point. 12v triggers for the Schiit amps would be great too in this marketplace IMO. Not trying to hate but come on now it’s 2024.

Razorbacks land John Calipari from Kentucky. HOLY CRAP!
Good luck. His one and done never made all that great talent work as a team. Purdue is a great example of lesser talent but after a few years teamwork gets better.

The heavy morning cloud moved off and the clear sky exceeded what was predicted by most of the weather models. What a SPECTACULAR show here in SW Ontario, Canada! These are 3 quick edits from the ~1000 images that I made today. Lots to dig through and properly process (screenshots of my images - the files are huge).

It's not "juvenile"

It's to keep the power supply and related power switch gear away from the audio bits. Jason mentioned it multiple times in his chapters.

As for 12V triggers, I don't think he's addressed that.

The switch placement is 100% not juvenile. It's an intentional design choice intended to reduce potential noise in the signal path. More technical folks here can probably explain the reason better. You could always get a smart switch or 3. I have 4 of them in my main stack and delight in calling out: "Alexa! Turn on my Schiit!" when I'm ready to sit down with a good book and great music. My Gungnir Multibit and Magni Piety remain on 24x7.

Edit: Ninja'd again! This time by @Daniel Johnston.

I've worked around the lack of triggers with power conditioners that have their own trigger. A built-in one would be convenient.

Given that many Schiit products have microprocessors in them, a proprietary link tech named Extended Link Automatic Xanadu would be nice...

I'm assuming you would do this to gain streaming benefits? I have the MXN10 and it is a rather awesome streamer with very good sound quality from its built-in DAC. It also functions well for NAS playback from a USB drive. It does have coax output to run into your Yggy if you desired - I have to imagine the sound would improve, it feels safe to say.
