I try to pay attention to most anyone who suggests builds other than taco holders.

George says, "Hi, and thanks."George is a beautiful kitty!
It may be the ambient temperature in the room. It may be a lack of circulation resulting in heat buildup. It may be a problem with the amp. I push my Aegir hard, never a shutdown. A 30 watt amp and 91db/1w/1m speakers can (in theory) hit ~104 dB from a single speaker, 107db stereo. Doubling the power(Ragnarok) will only increase the spl +3dB and that's gonna be at maximum power.98dB peaks might be asking for too much from a 30 watt amp. Maybe your room is too big for Aegir to fill.
You might be better off with Ragnarok at twice the power.
Greetings from Mr Slinky.
Best expression of the year award!Say what? Morrie will express his disdain to his staff for you. Again.
Listened to Beecham andTry something different---the 1959 recording of Beecham/LSO on RCA with a full, modern orchestra and chorus. Some like, some hate YRMV, but an interesting listen. Handel, being the P. T. Barnum of his time, would most probably approve.
Thanks! Me too! It really is a very good amp and the truth is that it's not going into protection mode at my normal listening levels. I just want to make sure there isn't something wrong with it. I wouldn't expect it to go into protection mode at lower volume than my Aegir 1, which is what's happening. Hoping customer service gets back to me soon to help sort it out.No issues at all. I've never had the amp enter protection mode, however:
I hope you get it sorted out. It truly is an outstanding amp.
No, its' the same RCA cables into the Aegir 2 as I use into the Aegir 1. Both are RCA only if running stereo, which is how I use each one.Assuming that you used xlr into Aegir and rca into Aegir 2, could that account for the seeming relative quickness of the deuce into protection?
You might be right and that's much louder than I normally listen to anyway. I was more surprised that it's going into protection mode at volumes that are lower than my Aegir 1. I just didn't expect that and want to make sure there's not something wrong with my Aegir 2.98dB peaks might be asking for too much from a 30 watt amp. Maybe your room is too big for Aegir to fill.

Both the Aegir 2 and Aegir 1 are in the same room sitting out on a rack with nothing around them -- lots of air circulation -- and ambient temperature is around 67 degrees. I'm able to push the Aegir 1 harder than the Aegir 2, which is why I'm wondering about my Aegir 2. I expected it to go a little louder without tripping protection. Will see what I hear back from Schiit. It may be the ambient temperature in the room. It may be a lack of circulation resulting in heat buildup. It may be a problem with the amp.
