Oh man those are gorgeous!
.
They will be on the way to the gentleman who brought up the idea of building them.
I try to pay attention to most anyone who suggests builds other than taco holders.🤪🤪

98dB peaks might be asking for too much from a 30 watt amp. Maybe your room is too big for Aegir to fill.
You might be better off with Ragnarok at twice the power. 🤷🏻‍♂️
It may be the ambient temperature in the room. It may be a lack of circulation resulting in heat buildup. It may be a problem with the amp. I push my Aegir hard, never a shutdown. A 30 watt amp and 91db/1w/1m speakers can (in theory) hit ~104 dB from a single speaker, 107db stereo. Doubling the power(Ragnarok) will only increase the spl +3dB and that's gonna be at maximum power.

Best expression of the year award! :)

Chipperz and Cry Baby just ate the scraps off of 3 New York Strips...
Sated , I'd say. Laid up in the feather comforter they sometimes let me use.
Chip looks like he maybe wanted some more lmao.

Try something different---the 1959 recording of Beecham/LSO on RCA with a full, modern orchestra and chorus. Some like, some hate YRMV, but an interesting listen. Handel, being the P. T. Barnum of his time, would most probably approve.
Listened to Beecham and LSO RPO. Not my absolute favorite but the recording is interesting. A lot of depth and space - great voices. The Nelson recording I posted is much more intimate but the performance is superb and the sound quality excellent.

The more I hear Beecham and lower the volume into the night the recording is growing on me. :)

Added: Somehow the L-R balance on this recording (Qobuz) is weighed towards L :frowning2:.

Correction: Royal Philharmonic Orchestra NOT London Symphony Orchestra.

No issues at all. I've never had the amp enter protection mode, however:

I hope you get it sorted out. It truly is an outstanding amp.
Thanks! Me too! It really is a very good amp and the truth is that it's not going into protection mode at my normal listening levels. I just want to make sure there isn't something wrong with it. I wouldn't expect it to go into protection mode at lower volume than my Aegir 1, which is what's happening. Hoping customer service gets back to me soon to help sort it out.

You might be right and that's much louder than I normally listen to anyway. I was more surprised that it's going into protection mode at volumes that are lower than my Aegir 1. I just didn't expect that and want to make sure there's not something wrong with my Aegir 2.

Both the Aegir 2 and Aegir 1 are in the same room sitting out on a rack with nothing around them -- lots of air circulation -- and ambient temperature is around 67 degrees. I'm able to push the Aegir 1 harder than the Aegir 2, which is why I'm wondering about my Aegir 2. I expected it to go a little louder without tripping protection. Will see what I hear back from Schiit.
