The comments are interesting too. This seems to be an unforced error as the comments include that traffic volume was low, so no need for the SW to be cleared ahead of the landing traffic.
Some commenters also note that in other jurisdictions they would not issue such a takeoff clearance, as I commented earlier. I do wonder if the fact that ATC could issue such a clearance in VMC makes it "routine" and normalizes it to such an extent that nerves no longer jangle in adverse circumstances, and the error chain is maintained.
I read the incident reports with fascination: and two observations almost always jump out. One is that the error chain often starts with an inconsequential event; and then gets compounded again and again. The mind set that (one "knows") can't easily be broken, and second, the Monday morning QBs who have obviously never been there.
The NYT did quite an in-depth story about the ATC situation recently. The main issues seemed to be - not enough controllers and a slowed process to qualify new ones, at least partly due to the Covid pandemic. The qualified ATCs are working longer shifts and strange schedules, so fatigue is higher than it should be. That is leading to some bad behavior - drug and alcohol and sleeping in the tower.
Ditto! All this reminds me of a trip I took with People Air into Newark. We were on landing approach and I could feel "the afterburners kick in" and a steep climb ensue. Very snowy day and remembering that always gives me a pause when making travel plans....
I tried the Mjolnir 3 but ended up sending it back. .... Second, it was immediately obvious the Mjolnir 3 dug out fine detail and presented it more clearly than my Mjolnir I....
I think less that it "digs out details" as that it preserves whatever detail the upstream components have dug out (Linn's source first philosophy).
With that in mind, clearly you need a more euphonic source . Tube DAC? Turntable?

As a distributed software developer, I agree and disagree. Download bandwidth has to be what one needs (10 TVs, gigabit!). Upload speed can be puny because most upstream requests consists of a few text lines:
Latency is key as one doesn't want all the lookups and connections attempts to take forever.
Now, if one's life is spent in Zoom/Team/Google meetings, first, condolences, and second something like Ethernet speed upload (10Mb/s) is probably good enough, just like it's good enough to stream music throughout your home.

Because it can be included in a passive design for less than many pure passive designs.
This is what makes the Freya+ so unique and compelling as a product, and ultimately responsible for luring me in as a customer. I use balanced passive mode about 80% of the time, use buffered mode for the rare SE source, and light up the tubes when the vinyl starts spinning. The best of both worlds and output mode selection is available at my fingertips!
With Kara now available in silver, I am tempted yet again with another great option!

Yeah, I have ~47 connected devices on my network. I'm on Teams/Zoom calls for a chunk of my day, and if my FIL is over (as he is daily, puttering in the gardens he planted) and my wife is home, we may have 3+ streams happening with a bit of upload bandwidth requirements, though nowhere near what my connection can support. To be safe, I did implement QOS for video conferencing and voice, and for my work laptop in particular. In my twice-weekly COD gaming sessions with my old pals, my ping is usually one of the lowest on the server. My connection is still way more than I really need, but it's not much cheaper for half of what I get, and 100mbps symmetric is the base business connection and the SLA that goes with it.

I've seen it paraphrased as: "It's plankton that serves as the foundation of good sound. Others may concentrate on tonal shaping to individual tastes, transient response, fast decay, low distortion. These are all important. But paramount is that all musical information be communicated. Once this happens, there is magic."
Some on-line "reviewer" used the term referring to some subjective criteria they were trying to use to rate DAC performance, as if it was a term with universal meaning in the audio world that carried some sort of heavy significance we should all pay attention to.
Besides, everyone knows if your system generates too much plankton the air becomes saturated with it, blurring your soundstage, destroying your PRAT, and creating veils. It also clogs your interconnects and disables synergy, which is why you should always use balanced audio.
