Great point, sorry to know of that situation.Wait until you are the caretaker for your spouse and you're afraid to put on the headphones in case you might miss them calling out for help.

Does anyone else here suddenly initiate a headphone session when their spouse approaches?
Getting old is not for sissies, nor, I am finding, for headphone lovers.Great point, sorry to know of that situation.
True, I am always listening for The Big Thump from my father.Getting old is not for sissies, nor, I am finding, for headphone lovers.
I actually went and got a hearing test before I bought my last pair of speakers (Sonus faber). I was interested in knowing precisely what I could hear. Turns out my hearing is only good for 35Hz to 16kHz. That was interesting to find out as I looked at full range speakers.Something I've been noodling that maybe the more biologically inclined amongst you could maybe comment on.
We lose the ability to hear high frequences when the hair cells in our ears die off, iirc?
However, the rest of the ear mechanics are intact, right?
Maybe our eardrums or the little ear bones get irritated by high frequency sounds we cannot actually hear?
It depends. And let's just leave it at that...Does anyone else here suddenly initiate a headphone session when their spouse approaches?
My father passed away at 92 not too long ago. He said getting old isn't fun.Getting old is not for sissies, nor, I am finding, for headphone lovers.
The like option does not show up on mobile, at least not on my iPhone nor iPad.

What I also found out was that insurance wouldn't cover the hearing test because it was "a specialist" that I wasn't referred to... Got love the health insurance BUSINESS. LOL.
I'm 68 and started wearing hearing aids 1 year ago. I take them out anytime music is involved.Hearing tests are covered by universal healthcare in Canada or I couldn't afford them. Got tested earlier this year, don't know the lower limit, but I pretty much brick wall at 10k. Doesn't stop me from listening to and loving music, both HP and stereo. Also, I'm down significantly in the left ear and the frequencies where women's voices live. Since I turned 65 I just - just- qualify for hearing aids under healthcare, and am now getting bombarded with ads for same.
I find it interesting that even though I can't hear those high frequencies (no super tweeters for me!) It doesn't seem to affect my enjoyment of music, or this hobby. And although singers are always a little off centre (hence my nagging @Jason Stoddard for balance controls..., I still dig imaging and soundstage as much as ever.
And I really don't want to start wearing hearing aids when I get so much pleasure from music as things stand. I can't imagine they won't mess with frequency and soundstage.

I must have had a brain cramp. You’re right. I was probably not logged in when I noticed no Like button.
iPhone 12, iOS 17.1.
The only time the like button doesn’t show up for me is when I’m not signed in.

Well, as Burt Mustin told Archie Bunker once upon a time, "I'll give you one last piece of advice, sonny. Don't get old."My father passed away at 92 not too long ago. He said getting old isn't fun.
