All this calculator talk has brought forward fond memories of my first... :smirk:
uhhhh perhaps this was actually your first?

Maybe. I can't remember that far back. :unamused:

My wedding anniversary is Valentine's Day -- 2 birds | 1 stone. :D

Now, if you could just get her to change her birthday to Valentine's day that makes 3 birds; less shopping, less money, etc., etc.

It's like a marriage. Be loyal. Don't cheat.

If your Yggy OG (2023) is the only Yggy you ever listen to, it will always be the best damn yggy you ever heard.

You're welcome.
as someone who owns a OG+ it was worth every god damn dollar, I will be curious to see what the newest iteration adds.

Hel+ is awesome. Not sure if placebo, but I feel like it sounds slightly better than the Hel 2e. Perhaps the redesign came with some sonic improvements.

The USB ports are definitely improved, way more solid with no more wiggle.
I just put in my order for the Hel+! I have the Fulla E at the moment, so that will go to my office setup permanently, and the Hel+ will be with my main rig at our apartment second bedroom that's just our office. I'm really excited to see how I enjoy the Hel+ against the Fulla E (which I think is amazing for what it does). I thought about getting a schiit stack, like magni+ and modi+ but I think Hel+ will serve my needs without the big wall warts, and I already have a good schiit stack for critical listening at my listening station (Asgard 3 + Modius E). I'll be updating in this thread once the Hel+ comes in and I have time to do some listening while writing.

That sounds like good advice @adias, based on my limited understanding!

With both Mani 2 and Skoll, the THD and SNR figures deteriorate rapidly as gain is increased.

As Jason has already pointed out, Skoll does not measure as well as Mani 2, so those numbers are not a good predictor of sound quality.

However, phonostages are dealing with tiny, delicate signals, especially with Low Output MC carts.
It is therefore a challenge to design low noise, low distortion and high SNR amplifiers which also sound good when running at 60 or 70dB gain.

Maybe Jason has cracked it
Have you tried the Skoll without the SUT?

As someone who has the non-plus OG, I agree completely. But I got it on closeout, and I figure I'll wait to upgrade it to the plus chassis until my warranty is almost over, since that'll give me a 2-year extension. :)

2 New Yggies?

I read the threads over on the other forum, and I gotta say... I really love Head-Fi. :)

I might be a little bit spacey, but there is some conflicting info out there... here's what I've determined so far:

There are two new Yggdrasil DAC versions coming - a Yggdrasil MIL-B and a Yggdrasil MIB.
Both are new variations on existing DACs - even though the old MIL "A" is not currently available in A-stock.
We'll be able to order them (as full units, not upgrades yet) on 31-Oct or 01-Nov (per Jason's reply on Wednesday).

Here's what I think I've discovered:
  • The MIL-B is the "More is Less" version, updated with the new TI DAC11001B ICs
    • The "B" version has dramatically better THD+N performance in the upper frequencies, versus the old MIL with the DAC11001A chips
  • The MIB is the new "More is Better" version, an update of the OG, with new versions of the Analog Devices AD5791 chips...
    • Correct?
    • If this is true, this is the variant I want
    • Are there more words on this (or the other) forum about the MIB?
I want to bring my OG A2 upstairs to drive the Jotunheim in my office, as soon a there's a new Yggy to replace it in the main system... <g>

Forgive me if we're already discussed this,

/ds

The non-plus OG is a spectacular piece of kit. I know this first hand.
Good plan IMHO. The new case won't make it sound any better. <g>
