Are you really near-fielding some Tyr-monoblocked Maggies?! Looks like an epic setup! 🥹

I sure do, though not Magnepans, those are JBL Studio 590’s. It was a single Vidar first, then 2 as monoblocks, then Tyrs and the Vidars got evicted to my living room. The family uses TV sound (with Sonos Playbar), and when I want more I’ll flip to my standalone DAC-preamp fronting the Vidars and powered subs (AudioGD R28). I have a Wiim Mini, Oppo UDP-203 (bought back when it could be had on sale for $279), and Mac Mini hooked up to it, which covers all my playback scenarios.

In the end I went back to Plan A, I didn’t like every other idea and decided not to be lazy and redid my furniture. Good thing too, the 590’s sound better than ever.

How do you tighten screws with these two heads, that have round centers?

The oval one is probably a bit for those "tamper-resistant" oval-head screws some manufacturers use for coffee machine housings. Talk about a bullshirt screw head just to frack with you out of pure spite.

The small round one is a sim card tray release pin. Essentially a slightly fancier version of a paper clip.

Question for all you schiitheads.

I have a secondary, bedside headphone system. I'm debating between Bifrost 2/64 and a nice DAP (as a DAC; line out into my amp).

  • As a DAC, how do modern DAPs like the Sony W1AM2 compare to the BF2/64?
    • To be honest, I still question the effectiveness of a DAP when I can use my phone and a Questyle M15 with Roon, Spotify, etc..?
  • In going with the BF2, do folks think it's worth purchasing the Pi2AES over using the RPi4 USB output?
    • I love my Pi2AES with my Yggy in the other system, primarily for its AES connection -- but, wondering if folks prefer optical or coax over Unison...
Appreciate you all. :)

Reminds me of an episode of the radio program Car Talk, when the guys were wondering why toilet stall panels in restrooms have tamper resistant fasteners. The thought of someone walking out of a public restroom carrying a nasty panel...

Hopefully some jerk builds you a proper cable one day.🤪🤪😁
Getting ahead of yourself again? Tell Finnegan to supervise you more closely!

Edit: Well if you fooled him into thinking it’s a cat toy, no wonder life is proceeding slowly!

Sunday PM, just found out a friends husband passed away yesterday.
61 years young.
