Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Given the pretty much universal favorable reception for the MJ3, is there any chance that it might become a regular product? Because it seems to be beating up and taking the lunch money from anything remotely in its price range. It might be that there are more crazy people out there than Schiit thought...

And of course, it would stack nicely with a Gungnir 2. Really nicely.
It will stack really nicely with an OG Gumby as well!

I'm on the fence on picking one up myself. I loved the Folkvangr and regret not picking on up. I sold my MJ2 to downgrade to lyr3, but now I'm thinking about upgrading it. Valhalla 3 would be great if its mini FV, but when I heard the MJ3 prototype in Corpus, it was very impressive. I'm a sucker for tubes, so buying solid state seems like a betrayal of values. Gotta mull it over.

But I doubt they keep making it as a mainstay. Go to the website and look at how many products they currently have as mainstays. That's a ton of inventory to have to keep up, and a bunch of different assembly lines to run. A limited run means production ends and they have more time/space for assembly of new hotness when it moves out of the proto phase. That means more cool stuff. I'd love to have the option to choose between a brand new, with warranty, valhalla3 or mj3 in a year, but I'd prefer to be surprised by progress and new products more.

Jason has mentioned the problem of mistaking early enthusiasm for a product as an indicator of long term sales. I got one of the last MJ3 from the first batch and I have to admit that the enthusiasm is warranted. It’s a great amp, but I think the cautious approach of doing the two runs makes sense from a business standpoint. It’s a niche product within a niche market. I would take the optimistic approach that the technology developed for MJ3 will appear in products down the line which may appeal to those who couldn’t quite justify the MJ3 to themselves but might find a more appropriate device later.

Maybe a strategic 1 or 2 runs per year for MJ3 would be considered. Let demand build and then satiate the demand. It would be a real shame for such a stellar TOTL giant-slayer to just fade off into the sunset, never to be seen again.

Maybe a Magni or Jotunheim with a choke? 🤷‍♂️I doubt there is much room for a choke in either, but we can dream😏

I wonder if @Jason Stoddard will make an appearance at the November Dallas, TX CanJam?

So you are advocating for a McRib strategy?

I like to think of it more as a Shamrock Shake strategy. 😏

I never found the McRib very enticing.

I’d be perfectly happy for niche products like this, having an extended preorder period, and a run when the book is full enough. Speaking of full, anyone heard rumblings of a Fulla refresh? It was my first piece of Schiit and I love the little thing
