Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

There are plenty of 230/240v to 110v step down transformers available that will solve for that right now. Check out the usual places.
And if it's a proper transformer with just the required windings, there will be no impact to audio quality.
(Note that you should probably be sure to match the frequency (cycles) for the mains. 60hz to match the USA - that might not be possible with just a transformer unless your base supply is also 60hz)
........................right.........so if I want a Schiit product I can just buy another external transformer that I have to be sure is of high quality to not impact the sound, dopuble up on mains cables and also make sure the frequency matchs, which the base does not. All because Schiit a popular online(international) audio company in 2023 cant wind transformers for the rest of the world when even the smallest chinese company can.

All the chatter in the last few days reminds me that my 2 Bluesound Nodes are Alexa compatible...

He said high-end... (I'll show myself out)
I'd expect that this is the kind of product where the more units you sell, the more you can spend on the software development, and that a very popular low- to mid-priced streamer is probably where you'd find the best software. Perhaps there's a whole world of crazy high-end streamers that can fund their software teams anyway, with much higher prices on lower volume, but I dunno if I need the milled aluminum chassis that badly.

Wow, brother... It's truly interesting to hear these different perspectives. I think I ended up on the other side of your coin.

I had a large media collection that I refused to haul when I moved into my home. Now all my media is on hard drives. Meticulously organized, with multiple backups... there's more motherboards than beating hearts in my house... you get the picture.

I specifically have a decently spec'd laptop (for 2017, LOL) in my audio rack, and no other source. Streaming is an option, but I use FUBAR 95% of the time. Wireless keyboard and an LED monitor...It is wicked convenient and bloody simple setup (PC > Bifrost > Freya N > Powered JBL Monitors).

I've been eyeballing streamers recently, but always stop short of purchasing...there's nothing that device is going to do that my laptop can't already do.

Anyways...tomato/toematto? I'm going back to reading up on that new Denafrips Arce (I hope that's a long E at the end, haha)...
That's where I am. I've looked into streaming with a Raspberry Pi a few times, but decide my laptop works just fine so why even spend the money (though not much of it) or the time to set up something else that really won't make things easier?

My bad. I thought you were talking about your neighbor to the south.
Nope, I love my neighbours to the south, including extended family - my Mom's family were early settlers there!

Indeed. Let them rule and support humankind according to logic and equality.
In the beginning a lot of lives will be lost due to Ai's killing of the killers.
After that we'll have a peaceful future.
Humans are just not capable of wielding power without getting corrupted.
There's not one human on this world capable to avoid it and too many that are pathologically addicted to power.

Agreed..."This mission is too important...to allow [humans] to jeopardize it" ;-)

So, I don't want to pull @Jason Stoddard away from his work, but I'm hoping Jason might find time to respond with a simple yes or no, if he comes across this post. Is the update firmware for the MMB1 still available?

Back in 2019, Jason posted on another site that, "Yep, you should be able to ask for the new firmware for Modi Multibit, and have the ROM sent to you if you want. If you bend a pin, static it dead, or otherwise bone it up, well, that's your bag."

Is this still the case? I have an MMB1 that I bought in 2018 (SCH-08-M, S/N: 08M06540). I assume that it does not have the updated firmware, and I would love to obtain a copy. Please? Pretty please? Or am I simply far too late? I didn't even know about this until today (been out of the loop).

Thanks

I agree. My expectation is Ai's that do not become human. The inherent human traits that will destroy the world and mankind have to go on the executive level of the world.
Humans must just play, make babies and art en listen music etc. NOT rule the world.

With our luck, the AI we've created will think about it and come to the same conclusion as Dr. Peters did, id est that we're the real problem for the planet Earth.

Cogito ergo mundum mundare, baby!

No. I've made it 30 days without buying any tubes. An entire month!! I didn't think it possible, but I've proven it can be done. Don't make me relapse. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I would send an email to Schiit support, and see what they say: that's how people got it in the past. I think there was a nominal fee for it after it got more official. You might want to open your unit up first to see if it already has it: there's a label on an 8-pin DIP chip on the top side of the circuit board that has a sticker with "MD218" if you have the updated firmware. If your MMB is built in 2018, there's a good chance it has it already.
