The Urd “Track ‘O The Day”

“No More Sweet Music” - Hooverphonic, (No) More Sweet Music, Sony/BMG CD 82867 746702

I love Geike and Hooverphonic, and not to just placate my Belgian colleagues. :right_facing_fist:

This music just flows, played on Urd -> Yggy… again, at risk of being cliche: “It sounds extremely analogue…

p.s. - both CDs are marvelous, just very different in style. Same band, same song - different approach.

My favorite pizza can only be found in Milwaukee. By a little Italian restaurant that’s so old school they only recently got a website.

What is the name of the pizzeria? I'll visit there next time I have a business trip around the area, my company's office is in New Berlin.

Would you (or someone else) be able to add some context to 60 degrees Celsius?
60°C is about the max comfortable temperature for drinking hot beverages for me, if that is of any help :coffee::stuck_out_tongue:

Someone asked about the Folkvangr, and since I have one at hand I thought I’d measure it with an IR thermometer during my evening listening session, ambient temp between 26-27°C:

Place1h2h3.5h
S-logo36°C38°C40°C
Triangle43°C45°C45°C
Tray 160°C62°C63°C
Tray 272°C72°C74°C
Knob32°C34°C35°C

S-logo is the Schiit logo on top (above the transformer), Triangle is the white “do not touch” warning triangle at the front of the tube tray, Tray 1 is in the middle between the 6N1Ps and 6N6Ps, Tray 2 is in the middle between the 6N6Ps, and Knob is on the volume knob. All numbers are in degrees Celsius, rounded to the nearest integral number, and also highly unscientific (just me, in the dark, wielding a cheap IR thermometer)

Not here, at least not per gallon

Just filled up yesterday, Swedish price for diesel is currently at $2.10 per litre, which works out to just under $7.95 per US gallon

I thought you'd never ask! <g>

Part of it was "free" and part was $29... the free part was a 2M USB-A male to USB-B male cable that came with my Canon photo printer. The $29 part is my AQ DragonTail adaptor - USB-C male to USB-A female.

Here's the weird part, and it makes little sense. The expensive cable that I bought? When it was in-circuit between Urd and Yggy, and the "weird metallic buzzing" thing wasn't happening, the system sounded brighter than it does with the (current) 'improvised' cable. No, really. "How could that be?", you may ask. It's a digital cable. It should simply be passing (the analog voltage swings that approximate*) a digital signal. It should have no effect on system frequency balance, or overall tonality. Right?

I dunno, you tell me. :) I want the sparkle back, so I will check out DH Labs for a new Urd-to-Yggy cable, because they have always done me right to date, in price, quality and performance.

/d

* there was once a marvelous article (from the late '90s) on Stereophile Magazine's website entitled "There is no such thing as digital", where a couple of audio engineers were discussing the way that 1s and 0s were transmitted between devices. Save for optical Toslink, if there is a copper / silver / etc wire involved in carrying said signal, it's an analog representation of a digital signal. FWIW.
That is really interesting @dstrimbu .

I am what could probably be described as a ‘cable sceptic’.

I have, however, been impressed with DH Labs’ digital cables.

I use one of their BNC to BNC cables (D-750) and an AES/EBU (D-110) in my system.

I am very happy with both.

I don’t have a digital source with USB output, so have no need for a USB cable in my system.

A question for those of you looking at using a pair of GHorns. Other than size, why would you choose this configuration instead of an Aegir which is pretty much guarantied to sound better?

While I do still want an Aegir, I fell for Jason’s pseudo marketing and that low price. For a desktop rig one Gjallerhorn is fine. But I’ve been wanting a balanced rig for a minute and thought 30 watts is mohr betta!
They’re small enough too that I could mount them onto the back of a speaker and keep speaker cables very short.

Not Little Caesars as number 3 largest behind 1 and 2 that you show? Also why Detroit pizza is unique - Little Caesars started there.
Living in a college town has its advantages, great pizza and burgers as well as cuisine from all over the world.
