Modi size means it's most likely to be used with Rekkr, so the risk of blowing things up isn't too great. But as I type I realize you have to plan for the worst case, someone using this to control a Tyr/Klipschorn combo. No knob, LED volume indication? Mid sized unit, with 2 inputs and a motorized pot, gives that passive saga that some (me) have indicated they would like? I dunno. Fun to think about though. When your kid turns it all the way up and you don't know...that's when volume indication is important.
I don't remember, were gaps between tracks "hard coded" in early CDs? Would the index markers serve to allow gapless playback of tracks with several sections? I admit to hardly ever using the feature. I am glad Goldberg Variations has been separated into separate tracks.
Imagine one of these with a Modi and a Rekkr. How cute would that be?Fantastic product. Never really thought of stripping it down this far!
This is a $99-ish product from us if done in a Modi-sized box. Worth doing?

What if there was a single led that went from off to green to amber to red; red meaning "your kid turned this up all the way"?When your kid turns it all the way up and you don't know...that's when volume indication is important.
Yes, it would pair well with Rekr. Especially since Saga is being discontinuedFantastic product. Never really thought of stripping it down this far!

Or 5 white LEDs in a row (like the input select on a Freya)What if there was a single led that went from off to green to amber to red; red meaning "your kid turned this up all the way"?
I've never been particularly bothered by those infinitely spinning knobs found on receivers or surround processors. Wouldn't mind it in a product like this.
x x x x x <-- silence
o x x x x <-- chill
o o o x x <-- jammin
o o o o o <-- RUN!
Or, no knob? Perhaps an LED indicating volume > 0The catch is volume indication. We could do old-skool Freya/Saga (with a non-motorized pot), but it can be overridden by the remote control. Motorized pots are too large to be viable in that size, bigger size means it's getting too expensive.
Or even a single white led that becomes progressively more bright! The BF 2/64 in NOS mode seems to have a pretty good range of brightness while the led is "breathing".Or 5 white LEDs in a row (like the input select on a Freya)
Code:x x x x x <-- silence o x x x x <-- chill o o o x x <-- jammin o o o o o <-- RUN!
There are some 10-segment LED bars that are affordable. That, plus a custom 3D printed light pipe might not be bad. But it would be green or red...LOL.Or 5 white LEDs in a row (like the input select on a Freya)
Code:x x x x x <-- silence o x x x x <-- chill o o o x x <-- jammin o o o o o <-- RUN!
