Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I went through the posts since yesterday, and below is the list of folks that I think (sorry if I missed anyone) expressed interest in a NC SchiitKit Meet. Denise has emailed both @golfbravobravo and myself, and I'm hoping the three of us can speak next week on what the logistics and planning look like. If you are interested in helping us with the planning work, please PM me and GBB to let us know.
Once we have a plan, we will announce the details here and elsewhere as appropriate, and of course anyone is invited to attend (even from Japan @Currawong !).
@bcowen @Luckyleo @Paladin79 @allans @StimpyWan @adydula @White Hat Bob @Jason Stoddard @r2muchstuff @chronoso @DennisLL @RCBinTN @tincanear
I'm interested in attending. I'm in Atlanta.

Actually, if Tom (@kilkil) answers, ask him about industry contacts for freebies. Or, ask Paladin. Those guys know everybody. :)

Before I took over the Nashville area meets, finding a venue to meet was always challenge and a cost. After I moved into this house, I finally had room where I could host the meet at my place, this solved the 2 biggest issues that I saw with the meets. The fact that we meet at a house instead of a conference room, I think hurts my attendance as some folks think they don't want to "barge" into someones home, even though I happy to have anyone join in. This leads to the some of the differences of larger meets and smaller intimate ones that I host. My goal with my meets are less about massive amounts of gear (though usually there is quite a nice selection) and more about hanging out with folks passionate about audio and enjoying our time together.

Here is my current thread: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/tn-center-hill-lake-whiskey-fi-head-fi-meet-april-22-2023.965307/

I agree with essentially everything Dick said, though I also recommend getting some friends to help. I personally am relatively quiet, so I usually rely on others for the majority of advertising the meet, requesting samples to be given away, and requesting companies to send demo equipment. I've had reps from Schiit, Audeze, and Headamp at my meet, giveaways from Schiit and Kimber along with folks bringing loaner equipment from many manufacturers (I don't even want to attempt to list as I'm sure I'll leave some out).

If you read the NYT you may be ahead of me. If not, check out their jazz recommend for this week:

Then try and convince me that it's NOT Miles Davis playing on the first few tracks!!

Many thanks to those who sent Elac speakers for my shop sound system. I am humbled by the kind responses. Finnegan helped open the boxes.😁

Just now checking them out. Listening to a little Rachel Price, and to test the sub Geoff Castellucci. I was running a risk hooking mini radials to a powerful amp.

From what I can tell through this thread, you have been most generous with your time, advice, witty conversation and your own charitable kindness. I was more than happy to help you out with the speakers. If you hadn't noticed, the box I shipped them in had already been "approved" by my cats (Merlin, Noah & Jack). Finnegan was sure to smell his feline "friends". That sub looks awesome!

I saw the sign of other cats🤪.

I have the remnants of a lifetime in electronics in my shop so if I can give someone a cable, or a few parts I do it. There are several people on here whom I would do most anything for and you are now one of them, within reason.😁
