A wise man once told me "If you have a problem, and you can solve it by writing a check; You do not have a problem, you have an expense."
A wise man once told me if you listen to @bcowen long enough he might start to make sense, turns out the man was not so wise after all.

Ugh. I just began listening to metal music for the first time in a long time (the band Amaranthe, they are incredible) and my SHP9500s sounds awfully muddy at times 😭 days like this make me wish i had a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pros or HD 6XX's, lol. Anything with a better treble / mid range response :frowning2:

I only found one Hd6xx cable but I included two pigtails for Sam. I ACC012B5-340E-4873-A03D-21C5DE2601A0.jpeghave way too much of this stuff.

Here is a build @L0rdGwyn did recently using 4 PCM63-K DAC chips.

Those chips were used in Mike Moffat's Theta Digital company/business in the Theta Gen V DAC back in the 90's.

So as @sam6550a stated, "If I remember correctly, the DAC in the Denon were PCM61 or PCM63, it doesn't get much better than that."

Thanks, I'm glad you like my DAC, it sounds pretty good! Listening in my system tonight after work.

My speakers are the Klipsch Forte IV with custom grills. Amp, DAC, phono stage are my designs. Thorens TD 125 MKII turntable I restored. Using an Innuos music server as a Roon core.

…. upside or downside, this is what an archeologist / archivist will find in my cellphone in millennia to come …. 🤪
Holy cow thats a lot of audio equipment. Would probably be quite expensive to get all of that new today. 😂

I need to put together a work system for my wife as well, except she cant wear HPs. I need to put together a good sub 500 near field system.

Thinking Modi 3+ for the dac, but I don't know what to do about speakers and amp, or if I should do a sys and some active monitors.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have an AudioEngine N22 amp that's good for that sitch. Speakers are very personal but I like @Paladin79's radial look beautiful and sound great from all reports.

I know @Rensek pretty well and will help if I can, I have an extra set of speakers I made to match Audiogal’s amp that his wife might like. Purple Heart and tiger maple.

Anyone else hoping to catch a listen to the new Nitsch amplifier? Comes out next month, and listening to Piety, I'll be happy at this price point, but still curious.

This Piety is so good with old 50s-70s jazz type sounds. And Grado Hemp!
I love the MP. Awesome sounding little amp. I am excited about the 2nd amp release too. Way out of my price range, but it will still be cool to see others’ reception of it once it is out in the wild next month

I need to upgrade speakers in my shop but I need to do justice to a Carver amp and preamp so I am searching for the perfect pair of bookshelf speakers.
Trenner & Friedl Suns are the best smallest speaker I ever heard. Way above your price new, sadly.
my T+A TLRs are no slouch and made of aluminum, to boot!
