Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

@Jason Stoddard What's up with the $300 haircut the Jot R got? Trying to clear out stock or did something get significantly less expensive to make?
They're not selling, so we're closing them out. We won't be making any more after this run.

On the other hand, I did get some good news from Mike and Dave about the DSP situation. We may have a fairly easy-to-implement, in- or near-stock solution that only costs a bit more than the old one. We'll see. I don't think it's gonna help the True Multibit Card or the Modi Multibit 2, but it may help keep everything else going.

Cool picture!
What piece of equipment is this? I mean, I know it's a regulated power supply, but for/from what?
From the dust, I bet it's from the last century before those new-fangled transistor-things became popular.

Awwww, I'd love a Modi Multibit 2.

Looks almost funky enough to be a Croft of some description…

Ok if you really want to know:

WW2 USS North Carolina Battleship in the Forward Superstructure, where a lot of radar gear was located:
Notice serial no 3.
The North Carolina was the first FAST Battleship built for WW2 and we have many serial no 1's, 2's and 3's aboard.

I am a researcher that looks at radio, radar and fire control.
Thousands of real NOS tubes !!

I can't like these pictures enough! Big globes of glass, insulators bigger than your hand and enough high voltage and current that would just as soon kill you as warm you a bit. The warning label in the lower left is a nice touch! But what if I want to look at the wonderful glow when it's running at full power? So what if I start getting a literal warm feeling being near it??

Like this?

Tubes are very hot (pretty much same as Valhalla 2). Chassis not so much.

They look even more ominous in black:

Nice pictures. I hope they sound as good as they look.
I have two questions:
1. Is there a reason why you did not add a balanced HP-out? Probably a stupid question but I have no clue.
2. Did you test it as a pre-amp for any of your power amps and if so, how did it sound? Is it an improvement to put this amp as pre-amp in place of a Freya?
Thanks.

Maybe it's a T-shirt with the desired product image on it...

This scam store is "selling" Schiit products for very interesting prices. An Yggdrasil for $99.99? Really?

Most OTL amps recommend a load when powered on and therefore suggest leaving HPs connected when the amp is powered on -- even if there is no music playing.
I have never heard that before!
Only have experience with 1 OTL amp (the famous GOTL), and I never turn it on with headphones plugged in...
