I'm 99.9% sure it's a pure CD transport.
I can't remember when and where, could have been one of the Q&A streams, but if I remember correctly Schiit said that they're not in the streamer business, and have no interest to ever be.

I also believe that the beta test is already underway, if I interpreted one of the last live streams correctly?

Precisely.
But for the life of me, I just can't find any with cryo-treated carbon atoms that are aligned perpendicular to the bi-layered tri-phasic anti-distortion technology that's built right into the high-density gold-foam-core they should come with.
(Ignore the rubber bands, though, they do jack-schiit.)
I guess I just have to live with the fact that my gear will pick up all those nasty micro-vibrations that happen every time Space Station flies by.
Bummer.

You jest, but I feel slightly uneasy about these since they are magnetic. But they are hefty, and look pretty good with the rubber ring removed.

And unlike these they were packaged properly, preventing shipping damage.

The description from Mike Moffatt is Urd is a pure transport with an external USB input, so it does include an input switcher. No streaming, no other preamp functions.

@Jason Stoddard could you update us on the progress regarding the HEL and Fulla problems?

I have both and have drop outs on the Fulla, and the HEL is finicky connecting to my PC. Presumably the ESS chips will function properly.

What is your current thinking on replacements or exchanges or updates to existing units

I love my Audiolab 6000CDT transport, it's fantastic. I own and have owned a lot of Schiit so I'm looking forward to their transport. I'm not sure I'll buy one but I'll keep an open mind.
