Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I used an HP-71, but nobody knows what those are anymore.

I used one of these. Actually owned 3 or 4, including a mini. Wish I'd kept one of them for the "good times, great oldies" vibe, but none of them made it past the winnowing associated with several changes of residence.

Magni IEMagni has a nice addition, look at the volume knob...it's got a highlighted dot for volume

Puuleease, an HP-48SX. Nothing so plebian as a HP41C

Only because I'm too lazy to pull my 28S out of my backpack all the time.

HP calculators and slide rules, Oh My!!

I have a few slide rules that I've collected. Still remember a little bit about how to use one, too.

My Dad bought an HP55 - first programmable calculator - when it came out. Showed me how to use it and I fell in love with RPN. I was able to buy a used HP35 in 1976, that held me through school. I have a 48SX at home and a 48GX on my desk at work, but I mostly use a 48SX emulator app on my phone these days. Have both the 48SX app and a 16C app on my phone, they're both really faithful to the original calculators. But they don't have that amazing keyboard feel. Nothing's perfect.

Ok I am confused, the Gungnir I have is full sized but it is a DAC. Are you talking about Mjolnir 2 perhaps? :)

Speaking of which, any tube favorites in the Mjolnir? I have tried some pairs but I always welcome the input of others.
Sorry, I meant to imply we have gungnir and freya in the same form factor, so unless Schiit plans to abandon this form factor entirely it is likely that eventually a new amp will appear.

Not a problem, I have five pieces in that form factor myself. :)

Well, they could extend the components with that form factor by introducing a Lokius SuperMaximus, which would be in keeping with the 2-channel use case (which IMHO is more compelling than a headphones-oriented desktop stack, for which smaller components are way more accommodating). Conceivably they could do a 2-channel power amp, but heat could be a vexing problem, and they seem to be firmly entrenched in the Vidar/Aegir form factor for that class of component, anyway.

I have a Mjolnir 2 paired with a pair of DCA Ether C 'phones. My favorite tube with this setup is the Raytheon 6BQ7A so far. I've stuck with the 6BZ7/6BQ7 family so far, haven't dug out the 6DJ8s - they're in another box in storage, further back. And I'm somewhat lazy.
I don't have an MJ, but the Brimar 6BQ7A sounds very nice in the Vali 2....if you ever run across any they may be worth a try. They pop up on Ebay every now and then for reasonably sane prices.

My 28S is literally being held together with kapton tape so a few years ago I was looking for a 48SX on ebay to no avail. So...I ended up with the emulator on my phone. :disappointed:
