Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I am stuck with HD600/HD6xx. Spending something like $1800 for a ZMF is not something I look forward to.

I went from HD600 to Diana V2. Was it worth it? Yes. Could I live with “just” the HD600? Yes (still use it regularly). The HD600/650/6XX are ridiculously good.

@Timster Perfect!

Edit: I think it’s worth noting that “booze” appears twice. You’ve been paying attention I see. Again, well done.

I'm saving up for an Aeolus ($1,200). Right about my max on what I'd want to spend on a headphone right now. Based on what I've read, seems to be a headphone that will match my preferences while also being a clear upgrade to the HD 6XX. I still plan to keep the 6XX around. It's a special headphone.

My favorite Senn is the HD580. I keep the 650s around, but never really use them, and the 800 was nothing special to me. The HD580 which I've owned now for 25 years or so is a survivor and remains in my rack.
I, too, have fonder memories of the fifteen years I spent with a pair of HD580 than the afternoon I spent with the HD800. The HD800 just wasn't tuned for me.

I'm wondering if twice is actually enough .... same with BBQ, might have to add in another. Will see how the next few weeks track and adjust if needed :)

AND, thank you!

I have Aeolus and HD6XX. The Senn doesn't get much use these days, but I still keep it as it's a great pair. Plus so many people have them it's a good point of reference.

Once I got the Aeolus, I have no urge to upgrade.

I also own both the HD580 and the HD650. I bought the 650 about 5 years ago, and it possibly has 50 hours of use max.
With the 580, I am on my third set of ear pads and fourth cable due to 20 years of constant use. I just enjoy it much more.

Ok folks.... A bit of a change for me - moving to an office that I was planning on putting in a Ragnarok / LS50's (I'm speaker guy...), to something where that won't work... Seriously looking at headphones again, I currently have a pair of Grado 60's that are fine, but a bit "meh". At home I listen to Apogee Duetta Sigs that go all the way down LF wise, with speed and slam; I'm *not* interested in anything that merely attempts that, at least not on my budget, so I'm favoring open back. I'm also not comfortable with closed back, like to be able to hear my space.

Audeze LCD-1 vs Senn HD 650? Thoughts?

Other told me earlier in the year that Dan Clark Audio Aeon RT at $500 was the planar to buy and use with Schiit. I just couldn't swing the $500 and went with the HD6xx on drop (same/similar to HD650) and enjoy It with my amps (see post above). I am still going to go Aeon RT at some point. They are on sale right now at about $450 direct from his website.

HD650/6XX. To expand on what @jnak00 said, the 650 is definitely a very very common reference point. Most review/impressions I've read of a headphone, amp, or DAC either mentions the 650 or makes a direct comparison to the 650. Comes in handy to be familiar with how the 650 sounds when you're looking to buy new headphones or upstream components.

Granted, the 650 is not a very wide sounding headphone, if you're looking to hear the space as you said.
