Should we call Saga - a Saggy?

I would jump on this in a second, but please make it balanced like the Jot.

Just buy a Jot then? I don't get "make-everything-balanced" obsession... just makes things more expensive.

I never really got the naming of cars. Don't get me wrong I'm definitely a petrol head, but I've never named a single one of my cars...

A friend of mine named her car "Lentilla" after the series of clones in The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Which made sense.

It's the sort of thing you do when you're 20 years old.

I have one and Yggdrasil so balanced is a thing. I'd like an upgrade path that involves a Schiit product.
This has kept me from Lyr3.

Current upgrades are $1800 and 3k, a balance continuity amp/preamp that fits a desk would be perfect. I use balanced headphones and powered monitors.

Now that's what I call smart.
Thanks.
I'll inform my benefactors what my wishes are for Christmas 2019
Or sell what you don't use/need anymore.
Actually i am talking to myself...also like to keep all the stuff...some even on the attic...

I agree to a point but such a product that is not balanced is redundant, Lyr 3 already exists.
Schiit sells 2 balanced DACs.

Now, imagine that we went to Continuity for Asgard 3. With Continuity, we’d have an amp that could do 4W into 32 ohms and provide much better performance overall, no matter the metric.

Furthermore, it could take the same cards as Lyr 3 and Jotunheim.

Furthermore, with the production efficiency increases that we’re now realizing, it might be a $299 product—with the AK4490 DAC card included.

Aaaannndd furthermore, it would then be a compelling step-up from a Magni 3/Modi 3 combo, or from any Magni/Modi combo in existence.

Aaaaaaaaannnnnnd furthermore, that might be a very interesting option to the tens of thousands of Magni owners out there, who may now be viewing Asgard 2 as a sidestep or step-down, and Jotunheim as too expensive—which is a lot bigger pool than those who are insistent on Class A amplifiers.

“Crass commercialism!” Some will cry. “Sound is what matters!”

Yep, gotcha. And in that case, Continuity still delivers.

Yes, over the Class A Asgard 2. Hell, a hypothetical $199 4W Continuity Asgard 3 still is gonna run 500mW Class A bias. Not many headphones are gonna get out of that range. But for the headphones that do, now we have 4W of damn-near-Class-A performance that also sidesteps the N/P channel mismatch problem, that we could never get from Asgard 2.

Please please I will pay for this right now. I would buy one tomorrow if you released it..maybe 2.

Jason says Asgard 2 will continue in line, then sells all kinds of improvements an Asgard 3 with Continuity would have. I don't understand...

Jason has mentioned that they want to get away from the numbering they do. So maybe you would end up with
say the standard Asgard A for the class A and Asgard C for the continuity version, that might be confusing though, because maybe people would think the C is a class C version. Or Asgard Uber..they have done that before, but I think they are trying to get away from naming things uber too.

My prediction, they just drop the number and find another way to differentiate them. That way the can keep making the class A Asgard for those that enjoy that.

Schiit sells 2 balanced DACs.

Lyr 3 is a 500 dollar tube amp though, 6 with a DS Dac and 7 with a multi.....

this is 200 bucks...

I understand and I have no dog in the hunt. I suspect that Jason is between a rock and a hard place as every time he proposes a potential product the 1st question is "will it do balanced?". Balanced on high-end makes sense (he has no low-end balanced stand-alone DACs), and he's addressed balanced use of those DACs with Mjol, Freya, Rag, etc., but balanced on lower-end (relatively inexpensive) gear is something I'm sure he struggles with as it adds to complexity and could push it out of the targeted price range (and for the benefit or relatively fewer people). Hey, it's a bed he made with JOT and now he must sleep in it -- or sleep on the couch. :D

*** And Lyr 3 is in a different (higher) price-point according to Jason's estimated $$$ for an AG3 type of product.

Back in 1979 Pioneer released the SA x800 series of amps.
They made a big thing out of NSA (Non switching Amplifier):

To me it sounds like they were attempting to do what Jason is now doing with the Continuity amp.
Would someone with more understanding of this please explain what was going on 40 years ago as it relates, or not, to the Continuity amp?
I find the SA x800 amps to sound better than the earlier SA x500 and SA x500 II amps, but by the late 70's the quality was down and prices were up.
Aside: Some SA x800 and SX xx80 have un-obtanium parts in them.
@r2muchstuff, I have an Pioneer SA 9800 Stereo Amplifier, it's a very good sounding amplifier!

I owned one of those back in the day, at the time I could buy anything Pioneer made for half price so I was constantly changing out equipment.
