Ohno Schiitizen
1000+ Head-Fier
As 5 year old I remember my Dad roused us from our sleep to watch Neil Armstrong walk on the moon - oh the sheer joy of that memory !
An important moment !

Actually, it's an old favorite of mine. You're right...scary times.Lovely sentiment in that song particularly when 2024 seems like 1939 !!
Truth is I do like it. It's an old favorite.Glad you like it .... during the space age, this is the song sealed to most of people's heart, and Joan Baez is during the anti-war years.
LOL! I have memories of that too. Not fond ones, but memories just the same. My Dad decided to pack all of us in the car (7 of us with siblings and one set of grandparents) and drive from NC to Kennedy Space Center to watch Apollo 11 take off. Our lodging was a pop-up tent camper, and this was July. In Florida. Since there was only room to sleep 5 in the camper, my sister and I got to sleep in the back of the Ford LTD station wagon (but it *did* have fiberglass wood siding, so there's that). This was Florida in July. If we rolled down the (crank handle) windows to get some air, we were immediately eaten by mosquitos. If we rolled up the windows as a mosquito barrier, we sweated profusely and immediately. I guess there's something to be said about witnessing history, but from our 5-mile away vantage point at lift-off, there wasn't a whole lot to see. People watching it on TV got a better view. Did I mention this was in Florida in July?As 5 year old I remember my Dad roused us from our sleep to watch Neil Armstrong walk on the moon - oh the sheer joy of that memory !
And we learned fast, to travel light..... (don't get me wrong, I am not making an anti-war campaign)
Edit: I think PRaT was a marketing term coined by a well-known British Hi Fi manufacturer back in the 70s.
I’ll say no more, as I might risk offending their ‘fans
Okay, so I took some time to goof around with the usb power brick that came with the Modius E, and the GaN brick that I own (IDK if it is the exact one you posted or a similar one)...I used Pan by Plini as my test track, because it is my test track for all new gear, all comparisons etc. The headphones being used were the HD600. I started with stock brick, then would switch to GaN, then to stock, etc. I did this listening to Pan on repeat via my bluesound node's coax out to the Modius E coax input. I could not discern a difference between the two bricks. For me, it just means I have one less thing to consider, but I dont want to invalidate your experience. I'll just say that either there is no difference (my general belief after doing this and Jason's own remarks) or my ears cannot discern the difference that is there.Awesome. Looking forward to your experience.
Andrew
Finally someone gives some insight as to What plankton meant. I felt like I was missing an inside joke.Plankton is the modern term for this now for me at least
I don't know about the headphones, but that's a great price for the SL-1200/1210 GR. I know that they're being discounted to make room for the GR2, but that's a crazy good deal if real.
Thanks for sharing the pic @PandaheadOld fashioned semi Schiit stack from eons ago still in use ......with meters:
Sorry they aren't the exact width. Transporter is better perched up high with it's antennas up for the wifi, wifey likes the plant. I like the meters. They're funner than the other displays to me. YMMV I know that's on the Schiit Sine Wave!
Oh and BBC is the British Broadcasting Corporation.
I am pretty sure that the issue with streaming was down to the Wi Fi signal in my house, rather than the capability of the receiver in the Transporter.I had a hunch that you were referring to a Transporter.
It's irrational in a way but it's always been a favorite of mine all these years. I've parted with other gear but never the Transporter! That center control knob was a clever idea but what few are left in the wild probably have all quit working.
Old fashioned Ethernet just works reliably. I've done similar with a Squeezebox Touch that was in the kitchen.
Where the Transporter is it gets good signal and has no problem with 24/96 fortunately. That area of the attic is far beyond the capability of my old bones!
"Wankton" is mine.Plankton is the modern term for this now for me at least
I have also have replaced all of my Schiit units' power cords, not because I think it makes them sound better but because I buy all of the power cord to the length I need. This subaerially reduces the rats' next of power cables. Whenever possible I also buy all the USB, Balanced, and coax cables to the length I need. It just makes life easier.True Cable Confession!
I hate these all the same length unruly haywire springs thingies used for supplying 120 volts here in the USA!
Over the past decade I have purchased 26 pieces of various Schiit from Sys's to Eitr to Yggy. Of them 15 have had these haywire things. I wish there was a check box on the Schiit website that said:
"I acknowledge opting out of the stock power cord. I will save zero dollars and pay the same for Schiit's NOT putting one in the box as it complicates shipping. I will however be helping the planet by providing more room in the landfills for all the food we throw away!'
I have collected over the years an inventory of cords that would rival bcowen's tube collection:
YMMV, buyer beware and count the cost before investing in appropriate length power cords of this caliber of esoteric.
And, in this case a blanket statement which I believe is never a useful thing in the hobby does apply here: These power cords sound the same as the Schiit Stock Power Cords! They're just easier to work with for me.
Jason, help the planet with an "SSPC" opt out on the order page! I will pay more for less!
I have also have replaced all of my Schiit units' power cords, not because I think it makes them sound better but because I buy all of the power cord to the length I need. This substantially reduces the rats' next of power cables. Whenever possible I also buy all the USB, Balanced, and coax cables to the length I need. It just makes life easier.
Hey now, I'm an actual Southerner I know what that means.
BTW I'm not misguided, I know sound is used to measure plankton, plankton is not used to measure sound.
