I was just checking for (a) Melz stash, (b) illegal concealment of more 'sideways' h/p/a!!
I keep part of my Melz collection in easy reach. I don’t like to waste time opening tube boxes.😉 Oh and I only had one request for a sideways amp, it is not easy trying to build something you don’t want to look at.🙄

Lack of redundancy isn't an issue with either company. At least not as far as I'm aware of.

Let's just say that one of them likes to solve all kinds of problems (real ones, potential ones, imagined ones) by throwing ever more technology at it, while the other prefers to solve certain things by relying on proven physics and reduction in complexity.

Both approaches have their benefits and downsides, obviously. But personally, after having heard those stories, I generally feel safer while traveling in products made by one of them, slightly less so in products made by the other.

That's the engineering side of things, mind you. Manufacturing, though, that's an entirely different story…
I've always thought Boeing made a good "analog" airplane while Airbus is more "digital". FWIW, if all electrical and hydraulic systems completely died in a 737 it's still possible to get it to a runway. Probably not so much in the 'bus. There's a lot to like about both Boeing and Airbus, tho.

Does this mean that I'm a cognoscenti? I think that's good, right? But if I wear it in public I have to explain to people that the tube was born in 1957 and I'm not that friggin' old. I was born in 1958, fer chrissake. 🤣

I'm running Vidar Monos into a pair of Apogee Duetta Signatures with no issues. Assuming you can provide a balanced input, Vidar may well be a great solution
What amp(s) were you using on your Duetta Siggies before Schiit *existed*? (curious). Glad to hear that mono Vidar’s can do the trick though, as my Classe’ DR9 won’t last forever (it’s now 34 years old)…

All of this tube talk (yay!) reminds me that I have to do some research and order some tubes this weekend. I've had a handful take a dirt nap over the past couple of months.

I will always defer to my son’s considered and educated judgment on “preference”. My theory being happy, competent pilots are the most important thing versus the specifics of a given plane… :wink:

I’ll trust a trained, professional pair of humans over ANY software automation/“AI” (after almost 50 years in the computer/sw industry) any day. Just ask the passengers that Sully saved :wink:. (Interestingly enough, I had the honor of meeting him about 10 years ago; super interesting and intense dude)

In these romantic portrayals, the chivalric paladins represent Christianity against a Saracen invasion of Europe.

Just proves how experience affects one's interpretation. I picture stuff like this for the word Paladin. It's actually fitting given what @Paladin79 used to do for a living.
