Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Yeah, you keep on raving about all those interesting improvements you're getting from your tweaks. Two or three more of these posts and I'll have to start twisting your arm until you invite me to stop by next time I'm in the Bay Area.
Think I'm bluffing?
Try me!
That will be one very expensive visit. :joy_cat:

Sorry, the "russian rockets" or "voshkod rockets" are the tubes that, as I understand it, the Freya N was designed around and which are supplied as stock tubes.

Not sure about all of them, but on mine you can see a little decal of a rocket on the side. They were for military use.
Ah. Got it. I just pulled mine out of my storage case and they have the star logo and what looks like a rocket on its side.

I've pretty much only run 12A*7s with adapters and have not had any issues. But then again they measure at the high end of NOS and they were not cheap. 😏
Let’s hear it for: Brimar CV455 (KB/FB), Lansdale 12AU7, Telefunken ECC801S …

Most 12a*7 tubes I've rolled eventually started making noises or going microphonic.
🤣🤣 … those are ‘azure print’ ECGs on a good day!! 😟😟

I’m waiting for adapters to arrive for my Brimars. Can’t wait to try them after what I’ve heard about them.

This is about the third time I injured this knee but it is the worst, or my ability to heal is greatly reduced lol.

No, with 20", 10", 5" I meant the width of large, medium, and small Schiit gear, so that you can either stack one "big" wide, two "medium" wide, or four "small" wide, and mix and match freely. Schiit lego/tetris! 😁

So, upon second thought, I decided that this Schiit Tetris thing is a really dumb idea.

Just imagine you dropped that beautiful, brand new Kara in vertically and then four rows of your Schiit just disappear! 😳

I really wish I'd done the Mjolnir/Gungnir at a 12" wide size for additional desk-friendliness, but hey, I wish I could send a ton of notes back to the past. And if I had a time machine, sorry guys, well, I got other things to do!

With respect to "standard" sizes, no. 17" is standard non-rack size; I chose 16" because I'm a bit cussed and I didn't plan on going standard "1RU/2RU/3RU" sizes anyway. 19" is standard rack size, AKA 17" with rack ears, which is fine if you have an actual rack where you're bolting things in, but less interesting in terms of audiophile gear. 20" no, just no.

Or….widest gear as the bottom, narrowest gear as the top, right sides of all vertically flush ====> 🎼 ‘Schiitway To Heaven’ 🎶

I was right there with you until the Telefunken ECC801S. I'm afraid that I have not achieved that level of opulence thanks to kids and cost of college. :unamused:

Ummmm...So hey. In easy to unnerstand real world terms what would be the benefit(s) of buying the new Midgard over the Magnius? Not for me of course as if I buy Schiit I always wind up giving it away to someone I care about. So yeah. I do give a Schiit about others.

My son still likes the Magnius/Modius setup so 'tis not for him that I shoppeth for at this time. This is potentially for one of my brothers. He likes simple and has tens of thousands of songs he has bought over the years on his computer. He does chide me for my return to vinyl but it is all in fun and last night I sent him a short video of my Beatles '64 'table playing some of Lynrd Skynrd's eponymous album. Big Skynard fan my brother.

And a sports nut. He is watching baseball right now as is my oldest brother. The World Series. Yuck. So then, if there is a genuine reason for choosing the Midgard please let me know and I will then begin asking my brother if he would like one. He cares not about the look of balanced cables. He is picky about audio stuff. If he were as picky about relatives as he is about audio stuff I might not have been born before him or at all, LOL!

I am older than him and used to be far larger and stronger and can no longer force anything upon anyone. Dammit.

Thank you!

Follow-up...

** The Brimars are almost permanently ensconced in my Freya N. I have not given the Lansdales a try yet, but for now the Raytheon 7728s are a close 2nd to the CV455, IMHO.
