Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Feb 23, 2023 at 7:01 PM Post #111,526 of 150,531
Recently I bought a Freya S and became acquainted with its precise resistor ladder 128 stepper volume control. The volume profile is very different from the usual pot, offering a lot of precision to the low volume end and for normal volume levels the knob is usually at 12 o'clock. And that is very very good. I had to use an older amp (different brand) in a different system and I can now see how much less control one has with the conventional volume pot profile which rises in volume very fast and offers much less precision - a tiny change yields large volume changes. @Jason Stoddard is right!

I hauled a pair of speakers to the Schiitr to listen to the Vidar, and bought one on the spot. They do stock Schiit.

Ordered the Gjallarhorn for my LS50 Metas I have been auditioning the past week. I had been running them on an SMSL A300 (Class D) which was fine, but had been trying to either integrate my Jot 2 / BiFrost 2 with a Vidar or switch to a Ragnarok 2 and well.... I ordered the Gjallarhorn. I ended up snagging a Saga S as well as I am gonna try my Jot 2 as a preamp, but think I want the remote for the Saga. Going to try both methods and see what works best.
Nearfield okay, but LS50's are very hungry.

Admitting ones follicular challenge is a start to being on the road to self-acceptance...

Nice to see you're starting on your journey. :p
God only made a few perfect heads, on the rest he placed hair!

Proud to be bald... no combs, gel, haircuts, or shampoo = moar money for Schiit.

Not yet. If it does well, we'll do some silver. Silver paint is easy, silver grain is hard. Best to start with black. Unless you guys want purple or something? We could do that. (Please say no.)

Tyler seems to be totally happy with Rekkr for KEF LS50s, which I think is pretty bonkers. I use Gjallarhorn with SVS Ultra Satellites in Cali.
I would buy one in silver to sit on top of my silver jotunheim, that's on top of my silver Bifrost, next to my silver folkvagnr, that's next to my silver WA22.

I think the Klipsch RP600M II would be perfect with it.

Mmmmm...Purple would be princely. Let the purple reign...in a purple haze!

Thumbs-up for metallic purple!

Those two switches on the bottom of the Rekkr, what happens if you only flip one of them?

If I want to feed it a balanced input, do I put the + on the pin and the - on the sleeve, or leave it in stereo and send the + and - to the R and L pins respectively ?

Jason, does the Schiitr stock the Texas built products? I’m going to be in SoCal in early March, and since I’ll be close…:relaxed::relaxed:
Yep, they stock all product, with the caveat that if it's out of stock online, it might also be out of stock there. However, you can call the Schiitr and ask, or request particular things to be there before you come up.

Oh yeah that's a good idea.

Yes, I am dumb. I miss stuff like that all the time.

We may need a second new shirt by then. Need to distill it down to a short, pithy saying that isn't just "we were wrong all along!"
