Recently I bought a Freya S and became acquainted with its precise resistor ladder 128 stepper volume control. The volume profile is very different from the usual pot, offering a lot of precision to the low volume end and for normal volume levels the knob is usually at 12 o'clock. And that is very very good. I had to use an older amp (different brand) in a different system and I can now see how much less control one has with the conventional volume pot profile which rises in volume very fast and offers much less precision - a tiny change yields large volume changes. @Jason Stoddard is right!
