Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I have been looking for some headphone cables for @Evelyn Marie and came up with a few options.

I had not done a four or eight wire braid in ages but I figured it out after a few hours.😜 877EDA17-60ED-4036-90D9-02662084593F.jpeg

Goddamn those are some nice looking cables. 😮 I love them!

The Schiit Sys works great too. It’s a little more costly than 2 better quality splitters, but easier to figure out(for me). And it goes both ways. 2 inputs or 2 outputs. FWIW
Someone mentioned that on Friday, but when I looked at the FAQs for what I wanted to use it for, it said that you can use it for 2 Amps but why not use a Y Splitter. If it is better all the way around to use a SYS I can just order that. The FAQ threw me off

I still have to change a couple from 1/4 inch to 3.5 mm unless you need 1/4 inch on occasion. If you get a Schiit amp that size will come in handy.

I believe I don't as I have three 3.5mm to 6.35mm adapters already, haha. Ordered a pack of two from Amazon around the time I ordered my Schiit stack, and for some reason I also ordered the TRRS kit from Schiit despite me not having any TRRS earphones, lol.

Personally I would prefer the y splitters. I think they may yield a slightly better impedence ratio between source and amps, and then you don't have to do any switching.

Even tho the sys is passive, it can still affect impedance.

If your splitters are working, don’t change it now, lol. I just bought the Sys as an add on when I ordered other Schiit.

As you wish. Tomorrow I will be away buying some Carver audio gear but I will ship by the end of the week if all goes well. I also need to answer a challenge of a few games of chess, the guy wanted to use a Dark Knight chess set but that ain’t happening. The game is hard enough without trying to figure out which piece is which.🤣🤣96C031ED-77F8-4F9E-9E3D-F9C1D64C621B.jpeg

[fade in]... I have managed as many as fifty technical people and recall in some of my education that some of the best employees are obsessive/compulsive, they tend to keep their work areas neat and organized..... [fade out]
I tend to me messy and disorganized. Although, I will also claim that, like many people with those traits, I can find something in a pile in seconds.
I do want to be really neat and organized. But every time I give it a try, I can count on getting a migraine in 1-3 days....

Wouldn’t you know it, my Yggy showed up at the house today and I’m on a trip. In other words, my Schiit finally came in and I was at the airport.

I’ll see myself out 😎

IMO, the 3.5mm connectors can sometimes get a bit intermittent / sensitive to wiggling, and prefer a direct (adapter-less) connection between 6.35mm plug and jack when possible. downside is that the 6.35mm plug bodies are a bit longer than the 3.5mm counterparts. If @Paladin79 is building these, though, know that he uses quality connectors (amphenol, etc.)

Sorry to hear that. I tend to jump back and forth between hobbies so I have to keep some things in order.

Direct Drive was the hot new technology when this one came out around 1980, but this high school kid was lucky to get a Technics with a belt.
The Dual 701 I have been gifted from my father is a 1975 direct drive. Not many around from that time though

All the splitter talk reminded me to finally run the long extension cables for the bluetooth transmitter. So, now the single-ended output from Freya+ that goes to the tape deck also goes through a pair of RCA splitters, and then out into the hallway to the bluetooth transmitter. This is useful for listening to records and tapes in other rooms, but also enables some goofy schiit like running the output of Yggdrasil through the tube gain stage and then re-digitizing it to send out over bluetooth.
