Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I don't have the owners manual nearby but it is Pro-Ject brand, made in Sweden. I paid less for it than the cartridge I will most likely use. I wanted something I could build a plinth for so I was looking for a minimalistic table with belt drive. I looked for a Sol but not much luck.
RPM 3 or 5 is my guess. Does it have a carbon fibre arm? Carbon edition if it does. I have one and find it decent. Love the style too - there with you on Sol plan b.

An RPM 1.3, I best not say what I have in it. It came with a Grado cartridge that goes for about $250, I could throw the turntable away and still feel good about the purchase.
I need to replenish my audio funds before I buy much more.

Favorite lyrics?

That would be a tossup between Dylan's Tangled Up In Blue and Hurricane.

I'll spare us posting them in in their entirety. 😅
I am a huge fan of Dylan and Tom Waits, neither was a great singer but OMG the lyrics. My favorite Dylan line is something like

"The only person on the scene missing was the Jack of Hearts."

How can one be on the scene, missing lol?

An example of Tom Waits lyrics..

She was 15 years old
And never seen the ocean
She climbed into a van
With a vagabond
And the last theing she said
Was, "I love you mom."

And a little rain
Never hurt no one
And a little rain
Never hurt no one

another...
Outside another yellow moon
Punched a hole in the nighttime, yes
I climb through the window and down the street
Shining like a new dime
The downtown trains are full
With all those Brooklyn girls
They try so hard to break out of their little worlds

You wave your hand and they scatter like crows
They have nothing that will ever capture your heart
They're just thorns without the rose
Be careful of them in the dark
Oh if I was the one
You chose to be your only one
Oh baby can't you hear me now

Will I see you tonight
On a downtown train
Every night its just the same
You leave me lonely, now

A “song” that made its way into my work-at-home playlist today and I was so focused I didn’t realize it until it was nearly done playing… been stuck in my head since. A little dry English comedy:

I Like traffic lights.
I Like traffic lights.
I Like traffic lights,
No matter where they've been.

I Like traffic lights.
I Like traffic lights.
I Like traffic lights.
I Like traffic lights.
I Like traffic lights,
But only when they're green.

He likes traffic lights.
He likes traffic lights.
He likes traffic lights,
No matter where they've been.

He likes traffic lights.
He likes traffic lights.
He likes traffic lights,
But only when they're green.

I Like traffic lights.
I Like traffic lights.
I Like traffic lights.
That is what I said.

I Like traffic lights
I Like traffic lights
I Like traffic lights,
But not when they are red.
He likes traffic lights.
He likes traffic lights.
That is what he said.

He likes traffic lights.
He likes traffic lights.
He likes traffic lights.
He likes traffic lights.
He likes traffic lights,
But not when they are red.

I Like traffic lights.
I Like traffic lights.
I Like traffic lights,
Although my name's not Bamber.

I Like traffic lights.
I Like traffic lights.
I Like traffic lights.
I-- Oh, God!

I always considered Dylan to be more of a story teller than a singer, a bard more than anything else.

Yeah that was my point, others do well covering Dylan and Waits but they are not exactly great singers. Dylan has written so many songs, many speak to struggles in the 60's like Oxford Town and The Times they are a Changin. He also wrote All Along the Watchtower and The Mighty Quinn.

I have seen Dylan a few times in concert, once with Paul Simon. Naturally Simon blew everyone away with the musicians he brought, Dylan hit one note on a harmonica and the crowd went wild lol. They were hearing a legend.

I am often more into lyrics. I heard the song Wagon Wheel done by Old Crow Medicine show and later by Darius Rucker. Turned out to be a Dylan cast off from some basement tapes that some lyrics were added to.

I am a fan of John Prine because of his lyrics. I just Want to Dance with you was recorded by George Strait, not exactly my kind of music but I loved the lyrics. Turns out Prine wrote it.

I don't want to be the kind to hesitate,
Be too shy, wait too late
I don't care what they say other lovers do,
I just want to dance with you.

I gotta feeling that you have a heart like mine,
So let it show, let it shine.
If we have a chance to make one heart of two,
I just want to dance with you.

Playing this now on Qobuz. 2 mins in and I'm hoping i've never overlooked it while perusing used records.
You are younger than many of us and I envy you being able to enjoy some music for the first time. :beerchug: Chapin died fairly young in a car accident, he had money and fame but was driving himself just as he did in a Taxi many years before, he often worked to feed the hungry.

Two more songs I love the lyrics of:

Pearl Jam's Better Man and The Who's Behind Blue Eyes

It's entirely impossible for me to listen to either of them without tearing up. Especially Sheryl Crow's cover of Behind Blue Eyes always hits me where it counts.

Great choices. Music is something we can all agree on and while we can post videos, some of the words are amazing.

One last Tom Waits lyric before I forget.

Here are a few covers...

"Ol' 55"

Well my time went so quickly, I went lickety-splickly out to my old '55
As I drove away slowly, feeling so holy, God knows, I was feeling alive.

Now the sun's coming up, I'm riding with Lady Luck, freeway cars and trucks,
Stars beginning to fade, and I lead the parade
Just a-wishing I'd stayed a little longer,
Oh, Lord, let me tell you that the feeling's getting stronger.

And it's six in the morning, gave me no warning; I had to be on my way.
Well there's trucks all a-passing me, and the lights are all flashing,
I'm on my way home from your place.

And now the sun's coming up, I'm riding with Lady Luck, freeway cars and trucks,
Stars beginning to fade, and I lead the parade
Just a-wishing I'd stayed a little longer,
Oh, Lord, let me tell you that the feeling's getting stronger.

And my time went so quickly, I went lickety-splickly out to my old '55
As I pulled away slowly, feeling so holy, God knows, I was feeling alive.

Now the sun's coming up, I'm riding with Lady Luck,
Freeway cars and trucks, freeway cars and trucks, freeway cars and trucks...

Behind Blue Eyes totally agreed.
For Pearl Jam my favorite song lyrics are from VS... Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town.

I seem to recognize your face ....

Gives me chills every time....
