Hey folks!

Just hanging out in a hotel room after a climb of Kilimanjaro (5,895 m 19,341 ft). Missed you guys and gals! The one album that got me up would be Fagen's Kamakiriad. Good to be back :)

Your records would sound better if the cleaner's tank were made of maple. :smirk:
No, no, no.....he needs to use liquefied maple as the cleaning solution. Sheez. 🤣

I originally was using a Hifiberry Amp2 to drive those speakers but was getting a click on the right channel. Never had that problem before. Anyway, I gave up and went with a small tube amp driven by a pi2design 502 DAC as the source.

HUGE improvement. Imaging is better than before and bass improved as well.

Very nice!! I've got my setup with my SYS configured where it gets one input directly from BF2 and the other input from Lyr 3's line out with Lyr 3 or Incubus (depending on which amp I'm rolling) fed via BF2 through AQ RCA splitters. Output on SYS then feeds Loki Mini which in turn feeds the Aiyima A07 speaker amp. This allows me to use Lyr 3 or Incubus as a preamp to my speaker amp when I wish to enjoy tube goodness and then switch to feed BF2 directly to the speaker amp with through the Loki EQ for a full SS chain. Tubes when I'm serious about listening and all SS when I need audio for a video conference call, training videos, Youtube, etc.

Sounds a little too syrupy for my taste

You have more space than I do.

I had said earlier that these speakers sound a bit congested with complex arrangements but this is no longer true. I don't think that I would play a lot of Rock on them but they don't embarrass themselves anymore. The tube amp made a big difference.

Yeah. My setup is a home office space and a large desk. I could not pull this off at my work office. You've done nicely with your setup.

The Radials do like a bit of power and my amp paired with Loki and my mini subwoofer makes for a very impressive sound with a nice airy and wide soundstage. It still blows my mind how really good the center stage is despite having my monitor between them. Sounds like instruments and vocals emanate from the monitor screen. :D

** Before adding the subwoofer, I was still suitably impressed with the bass I was able to coax out of them once I introduced Loki.

It’s currently 116 degrees Freedom (~47 degrees Science) where I live. If that gets confirmed, it’ll have been the hottest day on record for this town. The current record stands at 114°, recorded on July 9, 1896. 🥵

I think it’s time to switch on Folkvangr to help cool down the place a bit. 🤪

Wow!

I hope you and your cat are able to get some cooling.

Only 32C here... still hot with the humidex, but nothing like that.

Playing Dire Straits "Communique" on the turntable and listening to it on the HD800s through my newly arrived Folkvangr, and even mere hours out of the gate with the stock tubes this sounds glorious. And this is before any whiskey mods have been applied. Bravo, @Jason Stoddard, I'm very happy you decided to release this insanely bonkers tube amp. Well done.

Oh the joys of melty hot weather. Be happy that you didn't spend the whole day waiting on a HVAC repairman to show up, all while watching the interior temperature come closer and closer to parity with the exterior 115f. That was exactly my day. I think I'd have either spontaneously combusted or my displays would have started melting if I turned on my Folkvangr.

I plan to rebuild a Thorens TD 125 one day, I believe I can talk a buddy out of one.😜

I have been emptying an audio rack so I can rearrange the shelves. I am adding patina to longer lengths of copper just in case. Hopefully ten shelves will be enough on side by side racks.

Nice power cords!

But I was told here cables don't make a difference! :joy_cat:
