Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

As if drivers need more distractions...
There aren't enough electronic nannies to compensate for lack of attention. I'd be surprised if a cellphone wasn't somehow involved in this -
Hey, that's my car!!!

There are very few nannies in this car. Seriously. Cruise (no pacing) is about it.

Cellphone more likely.

The BIG question (for me, anyhow !)... how does LYR + compare to MJOLNIR 2 ?

As a car enthusiast this just pains me. I guess the old saying is true,"more money than brains."

This is not helping 😕 me to be rational and NOT buy the Lyr3+ 😒 😤

Schiit is such a customer focused company that you feel compelled to buy lots of Schiit!
Just sell off some gear to make room (limit your headphone collection to one model per mfr). Resistance is futile.

This is perhaps an ignorant question, but can I use a Vali 2+(/+) as a preamp for another headphone amp, say Jot 2, to introduce a little tube sound? If so, how do I appropriately manage volume? Could I potentially damage the Jot if I cranked the Vali all the way up?

Would this essentially mimic the sound of a hybrid amp?

I understand what you are saying, but I love the Asgard 3 very much...

With the Freya Noval can four 6922 tubes be used? I don't know if these would be under 2.4A total. Will using four 6922s sound different than using 6922s as input tubes only with two 6N1Ps? I have some good 6922s I can use. Still very new to this. Thanks.
https://frank.pocnet.net/sheets/049/6/6922.pdf

6922 is 300mA heater current per tube

https://tube-data.com/sheets/112/6/6N1P.pdf

6N1P is 600mA filament (heater) current per tube

Look for mA rating of the filament or heater current parameter (not the plate current rating)

Just looking at them, which do you prefer?
Shallow but some times, it can make a difference. Whether or not that difference is enough is entirely subjective.:beerchug:

Well, I appreciate that LYR+ is higher power across the range and a different technology ... but whether it improves on the SQ of a MJ2 is the key ... looks are nowhere near enough for me, although it helps.

I've had the MJ2 for over 5 years now and it's currently still my main amp ... it's that good to me. It does take a while to get up to optimum sound but the wait is worthwhile.

Just keeping my eye open for a possible replacement for the MJ2 ... but it will be a wrench.

Lyr+ in solid-state mode will likely sound very similar, plus it has remote volume control & input switching. If you got your (silver) A3 a while ago for $199, you should be able to break even or make a bit off the sale.

While using two amplifiers daisy chained (1st one as pre-amp) will technically work, best results are obtained with the simplest signal path (Lyr+). Or check the closeout / b-stock page for Lyr3.

For the amp daisy-chain: set Vali 2 on high gain, volume set to 12:00 or below and then remove its volume knob. Control volume on the amp connected to the headphones (e.g. Jot2).

when connecting cd players to external DAC via coaxial (rca) spdif the cable should be at least 2m in length.

Sheesh. More audio nervosa. Now, in addition to lifting my cables off the floor (and dusting them!) I'm going to have to buy longer cables.
Sorry, but my DAC lives 4" from my CD player - I'm not going replace my 18" cable with one that's 2m.
