Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

My 30w Naim Unitiqute fills my room nicely with sound
I've owned that amp, and it did a creditable job with KEF LS50s in a moderately sized room, which are 6dB less efficient than your speakers. I'd think Aegir would do fine with your speakers (6dB = 4x power ratio.

Ultimately the problem being that amps have a character. It will work is not what I'm going for. It will work and I enjoy it is what I'm going for.

I have several amps in the basement that just don't cut it for what I want. I have a pair of e-directvendor monoblocks that are 240W each and they are Boring. I have a 50W flex amp from the same company (Also clinical and boring). If I had the money there is another british made Name brand that exibits the characteristics I like, but $3,800 for an amp Ain't happenin. They are lower Watt, but exhibit excellent control over a speaker (at only 70W).

So Watts are not all created the same, hence the question. It would seem that a class A amp like Aegir could possibly have better control over a speaker than a class AB amp (at very different Wattages).

Some of us just don't have the funds to keep experimenting. Also the 30 days trial is never long enough to get over the honeymoon period and discover if you really like the amp (well for me at least).
Mr. Burbacca, 30 days is better than internet information. If money is a constraint consider building your own (life time warranty there). In your situation i would go for Vidar if ‘slam’ has priority and if refinement is prio, the go for Aegir; my guess is that this amp shall sound more refined. And the you have another million of options. Do not rule out a PRO amp, more and more come without fan or the fan only works in closed proffesional environments.

There are so many misconceptions and so much audiophoolery about amplifiers polluting the Interwebz and making people think they need things they do not... my advice? Buy whatever audio amplifier you want to use. Trust me it will work. See if you like the result.
I did that 20 years ago; secondhand, they are still running fantastically with loudspeaker upgrade they stayed aswell. Talking about dumping factor eehh damp, mine are above 1200 according the producer and indeed the amp has the 9kg woofer in a sealed box by the ‘balls’

Wow. That's a lot of negative feedback

I don't know a whole lot about specific amp designs, but the discussion of the Hegel H360 own, spec'ed at > 4000 damping factor, claims no global negative feedback, just forward correction. FWIW.

Wow, Hegel claims that its designers understand transistors "at the atomic level," so it must be good.

Excuse me while I go throw up in my mouth a little.

What does that have to do with anything? The question was about global feedback. The answer was no.

I understand how transistors work at an atomic level too, but how does a P-N junction emit light? Now that's some magic right there...
