Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Well, that goes without saying. Let's assume for a moment that one Vidar has more than enough power to provide the necessary head room with the speakers I will be using.
Ok, so I'm not sure what you're driving at. What do you think you might be gaining or losing? Besides head room the only other thing I can think you might gain using mono Vidar amps VS a single stereo Vidar is better crosstalk performance.

And this is why I asked Jason ......Jason knows the amp and the advantages of running two amps versus one.

In theory, all things being equal except channel separation, if the question translates to being able to hear it, I think I can guess at Jason's answer.

Just my general observation for anyone considering 2 Vidars(and staying out of any argument) is: If you have Freya and tubes that have terrific dynamics the head room from two Vidars, if it's in the budget, is the way to go. Why shackle the dynamics to a single Vidar? Yggy-Freya-2 Vidars=max dynamics. I'm willing to bet it's noticeable in the delivery. That's been my experience with amps so far. Transients sound relaxed. Efficient speakers benefit also. That's just my experience. There's always exception to what one likes.

What a way to start a long weekend. Couldn't decide which to open first so I'm taking careful and simultaneous steps. HeHeHe

Trust me you will love it, had mine for around 6 months now I think...

Like Christmas in July :)
(well, it's July here)

... 'Tis far, far better to have a way with words than to have a wonderful economy with them...

I vote economy.

(edit: If I can't have both)

Hello to Constanza's new picture. How goes the new (replacement) Rag and Yggy?

Hello to Constanza's new picture. How goes the new (replacement) Rag and Yggy?
Well everything is just fine.
Music on all day long.
They will eventually tell me what went wrong.
Constanza had her birthday the other week.
She's a 15 year old dame now.

Ok, here's one for the Jotunheim, Mjolnir 2, BifrostMB, GungnirMB, Saga and Freya owners. Where would I get my best bang for the buck? I owned the BifrostMB & Lyr 2, but sold it to explore solid state. Turns out I like tubes, so I'm going back to Schiit.

Jot+BMB+Saga+Vidar = $2050
Mjo2(LIST)+GMB+Freya+Vidar = $3560
Jot+GMB+Saga+Vidar = $2700
Jot+GMG+Freya+Vidar = $3050

My advise (based on nothing but subject liking while testing) would be the second combination with the Mjolnir 2.

If you plan on using the Freya as a preamp into Jot for headphones you might pass on getting the Mjolnir 2. I found Freya/Jot more dynamic and resolving than Mjolnir 2 w tubes.

I know what mono blocks offer in regards to improved channel separation. Much of that is negated by Vidar being dual mono back to the transformer. I know that two Vidar amps will have more headroom than one. Since Vidar has one power supply driving both channels, it is not a true dual mono design. Is there an advantage in speaker impedance matching when using two Vidar amps in monoblock mode? Probably...but what real difference does that make compared to one Vidar in stereo mode?

This is why my post was directed at Jason. No one else here knows the answer to the question I asked. I am sure Jason would say that as long as you have enough power with one Vidar, the differences don't add up to very much. But, in case that is wrong, I wanted to ask and hear the answer from him.

Very long cable runs and houses with ground loop issues can benefit from using xlr too.
