Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

This Tonykaz says this in a comment on the Stereophile post:

"Lesson: Don't buy first gen. Schiit stuff! Annnnd, Stodard admits that the Caps they use are only good for 8 years."

I don't recall Jason ever posting anything like that, and surely it's not in Schiits favour to make unreliable products. From what I've seen it's looks to be well put together kit.

Maybe Tony has an agenda?

I have issues with the second statement (I don't care about the first one as that is an opinion), I don't recall seeing anything like this from Jason Stoddard too.

If unresolved, this may end up being seen as libel, to put it mildly

EDIT: Took another look at the entire thread, I am quite unsure about this Tony guy due to the tone used in various posts seem... uneven. Some statements sound supportive (or at least, have good points) while others are obviously hitting at Schiit

One thing for sure, he seems like another poster on the Internet like you and I, can't do much about this I suppose

I'm speculating here, but maybe he had a faulty item, or one that didn't meet his particular needs. I worked for 25 years in retail, and can definitely say that the 1% who have a problem are far more likely to tell the world than the 99% who are absolutely delighted with the product or service that they have purchased.

This. The disgruntled grumbler vs the silent contented majority can be a problem on the Internet

I do not remember Jason saying anything about caps.

But I do remember him having concerns with the life of the new lead free solder that must be used.  I seem to remember the topic coming up when someone asked why Schiit's warranty was not 10 or 20 years like a couple other manufactures.

Please remember this is as I recall,  I do not have the inclination to search for the original posts.  So do not quote me...

60,000 hours would be ~ 7 years full-time

But that applies to just about all standard electrolytics - if you can derate them more they will last longer.

Mmm...
That's a throw away consumers line of reasoning.
And.. I do not agree.

I figure that if I got 10 years out of it, I have no right to complain. Every additional year is a bonus. After all, my Hafler lasted 22 years before blowing up. It did not take out my speakers when it did it. I have no right to complain.

Yeah me to.

@tonykaz how's the soup these days.

Its not more that few weeks ago I thought about you positive vibe in this thread.

When I saw your signature I had to read your comments many times to see the negativity.

I guess my mind really tried to turn your words into sarcasm.

... and if everything else is OK you can always re-cap if you want to continue ...
