Previously MOT: Cables For Less
When I change out turntable parts I am reminded of a scene in The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly. Tuco (Eli Wallach) goes into a gun store and changes out parts of various six shooters till he has his own perfect model. A great example of knowing what you want and making it work.I'm pretty sure it will learn to LOVE what I love and to HATE what I hate.
+1 for upgrading @DACattack's TT.![]()

By the way, those julips were so good I asked the bartender what bourbon he had used. He smiled and said, "Here's an old bartender's secret. The best tasting cheap hooch is Early Times. That's what you have."
Ever since then I've had Early Times in my bar and use it for mixed drinks calling for bourbon.

My son tends to use Bulleit bourbon for mixing yet it is certainly a flavorful bourbon for sipping. My parents used to drink Old Fashioneds made with Ancient Age.

Private equity has destroyed all kinds of businesses. I am glad you are doing better now.I’m in my early 50s, and was involuntarily retired from my last corporate job four years ago and change as the hospitality sector got destroyed by COVID. I had expected (and wanted) to finish off my career there. Loved the brand and my colleagues.
Well, having built long term, mutually supportive relationships with people in the field paid off, because the consulting gigs came on fast, and I’m now earning more, even taking into account paying for my own health insurance, building a SEP IRA, and the self employment tax penalty (I’m reorganizing into an S-Corp to help with that) than I did at my last job.
I’m also working less, and if I don’t like a project, I simply pass.
And, my old company is a shadow of its formal self. Almost all the best people have moved on, one way or another, and I would be miserable working there today. Everything that made the brand unique and awesome has been jettisoned by the private equity management that “saved” it.
It’s sometimes nervy, and can bring some angst, but I can’t say it didn’t turn out to be a good thing, at least so far.

Thanks Tom. I recall seeing it advertised somewhere but forgot to watch it. I will now: it's on several streaming services. The Wrecking Crew, also known as the Clique and the First Call Gang, was a loose collective of American session musicians based in Los Angeles who played on many studio recordings in the 1960s and 1970s, including hundreds of top 40 hits. The musicians were not publicly recognized at the time, but were viewed with reverence by industry insiders. They are now considered one of the most successful and prolific session recording units in history.
The Wrecking Crew is a 2008 documentary. I do not recall which channel carried it. I am currently in negotiations for a couple tone arms but I can check later.

Would that mean that it was done … out-house? Of course it would. It was done in the SchiitrSo…
Almost all of our research and development work is done by employees of our company.
You could say that it’s pretty much all done in-house.
Forkbeard started out as a “spec project” by a guy who had no prior working relationship to the company.

Mimir is hooked into the system (coax in and balanced out) as a direct substitute for Yggy (who is staying “warm”, natch)… resisted urge to listen stone-cold. Added to the FB Schiit Stack (a doddle by now). Beer-ing now, reward for getting 3 new raised beds fully in with hardware cloth underneath and the OG grass/sod tilled and (mostly) leveled. Can’t grill me birthday steak outside because thunderstorms and rain… but, we are having the last of last season’s potatoes: using the Mandolin to turn them into Fries, then will cover in beef tallow and salt them, and convect bake em… ymmmmm… Steaks’ll have to be on the cast iron grill pan on the induction cooktop.
Salad, as we just ran out of energy and time to get to the store to get some nice early Asparagus (alas); just as well, it is at it’s perfection when Mesquite-grilled outside…. It shall be a nice Australian Shiraz I think.
If, after all that cooking, eating and cleanup… I still have energy, I shall attempt a listen/pay with Mimir. (Lord knows I am anxious to use the PEQ and Loudness features to see!).
Nice that FB can easily manage my stack from the far end of the house (and outside on our 3 season porch) - easily 40+ feet away and through (from where I sit now) 3 walls (one of which is exterior). Impressive. IR remote is so “last century”…
