Have been refraining to comment more on it to avoid spoiling, because there is particular element that I hated; but, this is and definitely plays like an "auteur" idea of a zombie movie. I like un-ironic classic zombie carnage. And while not entirely un-entertaining, "The Dead Don't Die" has an "I want this to be smart" factor that works against it. All IMHO, of course.

Iggy Pop eating someone doesn't qualify as classic zombie carnage?

** If there's anything I hate more than paying a bazillionaire more $ for something I used to get at no additional cost it is commercials while watching a movie.
I ended up capitulating when I tried watching the latest season of Invincible and it had 5 ad breaks in it. That's more than our broadcast TV has here in the UK so screw that!

But really why do we need to pay extra to a company that already made $311 billion of gross profit last year!

If you're going back to the '70s, US speaker sound at the time was divided between East and West Coast styles: JBL and Altec Lansing exemplifying West Coast sound designed to rock out and AR and Advent exemplifying East Coast sound designed for more accuracy and balance.

The former were fun for a while, especially with driving rock but the latter played more genres well and were more listenable for extended periods. IMHO.
I grew up with Advents, I had the Advent mini through high school. They were my gateway into 2 ch audio, and I much preferred them to the Altec Lansing sound. Their only downside was they were pretty inefficient with the sealed acoustic suspension design. Great affordable speaker line in their day.

Also, an entertaining current zombie movie, it was much better than I expected:

Well, it looks like our house has sold whilst we are traveling in Europe - subject to the usual shenanigans - so we will be downsizing and simplifying - in three weeks.

That means my Double Impacts (red) and #59 of Tom's Incubus series will be looking for a new home. We don't know where we are going yet, so the Tyrs, Freya etc. are still on the will I / won't I list.

PM me if you are interested in any of the above before it gets listed.

I wish you luck finding a new place.

Downsizing is a lot of work, as I found out when moving from NYC to Atlanta. Hopefully you find takers in a timely manner.

So, quick question to all of you who use USB power bricks for their USB-powered audio gear (streamers, DACs, etc.):

What brick are you using (manufacturer, type, etc.), and did have a reason to pick that particular one?
I'm using an older version (250W) of the HDPLEX 300W Linear Power Supply. Primary rails for my Intel Nuc and secondary rails for 5V stuff like RPi. Clearly oversized for 5V only operations.

Just ordered a new Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 to make it work as a Tidel Connect Endpoint on the G2s second USB input.

I took Amazon Prime, stuffed it in a Tesla, put it in a hijacked SpaceX rocket, and launched the stinking pile of code and metal on a one-way trip to the heart of the Sun. The

of streaming video services with ads and degraded audio (for the same price you used to pay for no ads and quality audio) unless you pay even more is moving forward at high speed. We've moved from the "growth at all costs" stage to the "rent taking and gouging" phase. Count on ads being added to formerly ad-free music streaming services soon. Good riddance to Prime and not missed.

I've haven't heard a British-built speaker that sounds as neutral as I would like. Not to say they don't have other attractive attributes. .Mind, my opinion here was formed in 1985 :-p . B&W, Wharfedales, anything BBC derived, not interested. Probably wouldn't like Tannoys, either. The Fynes I have are ok within their price bracket. OTOH, I really do love my tiny Cambridge Audio Minx.

I've found German speakers more to my liking: more analytical yet still musical. Vienna Acoustics (not so neutral, IME), T+A, Fischer&Fischer, Trenner & Friedl have all sounded better to me than any British speaker I've heard.
Have you heard? ProAc ribbon speakers, Quad's ESL-63 or newer, or ATC SCM50? As a fan of the BMR, I'd figure you'd like those if you have heard them.

The Brit sound/East Coast/West Coast - it's less defined that it was 40 years ago. I find that gear from Japan and Germany do hew a bit more to a certain sound in transducers. Both with a brighter treble than neutral. MBL and Stax representing some of the best of either.

Klaus Schwab: “In the future you will OWN nothing, and be happy” (not cars, not houses, not music, not food, nothing… all will be rented/on demand. The rent-seekers plan on it).

But, as Peter Gabriel says, “But not ME, I’m smarter than than that, I worked it out”

I don’t do very much video at all, and the instant Qobuz switches to any sort of ads or additional platform monetization, it’s buh-bye… I much prefer physical media, I OWN IT! (Yells at clouds with middle fingers erect)

What's Up. Looking for some pointers.

Now that I have some ear time with the Gigastack I am now convinced I do not like my ML 40is. I really can't put my finger on a particular issue, but I am not feeling it.

My confidence in the electronics and source is firm.

I also spent some time in the streaming rabbit hole with different sources and online providers. Needless to say, I was left intrigue, surprised and somewhat letdown at various levels. For me, today, I am sticking with my current setup of Mac Mini M2, Audirvana, local FLAC files pumped to the Gungnir 2. Again, can't put my finger on the exactness, but something is not 100% with this steaming (at least in my budget).

Would like some suggestions for replacement speakers.

My room is 12' x 12' roughly. a small chair and some treatment. Throw rug over HW floors.

I would like to set a max budget in the < 4K range.

Weirdly enough, I have a fondness of bookshelves on stands. I am not opposed to towers either.

I do not want to introduce subwoofers. Been there done that many times. I don't do EQ, no interest in DSP or other gadgets to tune the sound. I want to mate the speakers with the source, everything between is a wire.

My ability to audition in room where I am located is nil. Of course I can travel to showrooms, but that is a crap shoot at best.

In the past I have owned a lot of speakers. The ones I remember being my favorites have been:

ML Aerius I I loved them, but they are a bit directional.
Spendor S6e - Sweet, but not the best at party mode. I replaced drivers multiple times after an indulged weekend. Not cheap and not timely on replacements.

If you would chime in on at least a direction and I know it's an online opinion, but I would like to make sure I don't miss a brand or type that I have not considered.

Best Regards,
SickMonkey

In the same vain you have car manufacturers making you pay a subscription to unlock performance and features. If the car already includes them why should you have to have an ongoing cost to pay for it! You are basically paying them to not downgrade something you already purchased...
