I much preferred the sound of my Asgard 2 to my Asgard 3. Even compared to the Mjolnir 3, the little Class-A Asgard 2 kept up with a similar tonality. Would love a return to Asgard's roots with a small form-factor class A amp.

Mjolnir 3 is in my rotation later this week...the 300 Ohm ZMFs Verite Closed backs are a marriage made in heaven with MJ3!
Is that your mjolnir 3 yours or on tour?

Forkbearded Urd would need some sort of retro app page where the available tracknumbers get highlighted out of 20ish like on the old displays.

I would have to buy one just to play ...But Seriously one single time and feel like a little boy again.

But it's got a laser, you'll shoot your eye out kid!
Lol! Back in the day, all us old-timers had to worry about was stabbing our finger with the tip of a stylus. 🤣

Time to try a classic Hitachi table with the Stjarna. Getting the perfect headshell for a MC cartridge took a bit of time but I have it now. 🤪

Interested? Have other ideas? Leave it dead? Let us know. We’ll listen
Since the MJ3 takes care of the Class A amp, the Valhalla 3 takes care of the OTL amp, and the Lyr takes care of the tube hybrid amp the only glaring hole in the product lineup is a SET output transformer coupled amp.

I think it’s been mentioned before that there isn’t the knowledge base at Schiit to make your own output transformers, but IIRC Edcor manufactures there’s in the USA so that’s a source for them while keeping the “made in the USA” part alive.

A Schiit SET amp with maybe a 6SN7 front end tied to a 300B or triode strapped KT-whatever power tubes sold at a reasonable price would be an instant buy. Anything other than more of the Russian tubes.

On that note, an option to buy the Valhalla 3 without tubes so owners can buy their own non-Russian tubes to run in it would be appreciated.

Your logic is unassailable but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Mjolnir 3 is going away which would mean that there would be no Class A SS amp in the lineup. Granted that is an interesting take on what the new Asgard could be.

Ah, why is MJ3 going away? Have sales dropped off?

It was always a limited run, but they asked the community if they wanted to continue production for a few more batches. The original run was supposed to end at 500 units.

Edit: It was nice while it lasted, but Jason did leave the door open for a future version of Mjolnir, granted that will be a while.

Corrected by Jason, Mjolnir 3 production continues.

.... and John Peel. I learned a lot from his show.

John Peel was my music guide, god, and leading star. Tony Blackburn during the day if necessary, but Peely every night. I illegally ran an antenna up the outside wall of my flat to get the best Radio 1 signal I could, and spent more on my FM tuner than on my turntable.

I set up a timer to turn my rig on at the appropriate time and record the show to a dbx cassette recorder, then would create genre-specific mix tapes from the recording. Awesome musical education and some of those tapes got played so often to this day I expect to hear song B after song A plays. I would meticulously notate the cassette sleeves with artist and track

Sadly the collection got flooded, and it was l-o-o-o-ng before digital cameras, so I don't even have a photo of my collection. When I left that place the boxes of tapes were the length of an entire wall end to end.

So good. John Peel will for ever live in my heart.

Simple, small form factor Urd would be an instant buy. Top loader for simplicity, reliability, and cost would be a plus. Would love a Unison option - usb is still a distinguishing factor in the market. Moreover, my G2 has AES (streamer) and coax (TV) inputs filled, and 2 usb inputs unused. Bit of a shame, really.
