Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Gene Hackman RIP.

One of my favourite actors. The French Connection. Mississippi Burning. Superman. A legend.
One of my favorites too. Very sad.

And add Crimson Tide and Enemy of the State to the list. Neither of those movies would have been close to what they are without him (IMO).

Don't forget his roll as Royal Tenenbaum! Delicious stuff.

Hackman's portrayal of Little Bill, in Eastwood's "Unforgiven", drove that movie. Hard. If Little Bill hadn't been portrayed as vicious as he was, Eastwood wouldn't have had his violent final act climax, and the whole movie would have collapsed...! Brilliant acting...! Scary too. I wouldn't have wanted to have met that character...! 😱

As far as noise floor on Stjarna, I might listen before or after testing but the last thing I want to do in a blind listen is know which is the tube amp and which is the solid state. I might pick up on that anyway but it most certainly would not be on purpose. Noise floor can be more obvious with headphones but with running tube gear after the phono pre maybe it will be tougher to pick out anyway.

I would assume the sensitivity of the speaker/headphone would dictate how noticeable it is. I am sure you will have fun tinkering with that setup either way.

Right now I am more limited to headphones but my group will use my speakers. Both of mine are quite good IMHO but headphones do have their advantages. No noise from my heat pump running or ice maker or Finnegan purring or air purifier.😁 I will try to limit those noises for my friends but Finnegan will be on someone’s lap most likely.

Apparently there were two dogs that survived. I'd say accidental as well.
It'll be interesting to hear what the dogs have to say.

...if only, right?

When one is one with ones dog(s), words are not required....

G2 still opening my eyes... "State Trooper" by Cowboy Junkies. The bass is defined, cavernous (in the right way) and cut way up in the mix. Used to turn it down when listening to the entire album, since it seemed over modulated and not that interesting.

Followed up with "Light as a Feather" on the 2nd eponymous RTF recording. Airto & Floras percussion jumps out right away - massive front to back, and Clarke's bass now is 3-D as the cut proceeds. Every instrument has more added compared to the Gumby A1.

Definition/timbre/leading edge/trailing edge in harmony, toss in the stark quiet background, and the staging depth and width. As other new additions that are a nice step up, make one want to revisit favorites - the G2 certainly is one, like the BMR's I got some months back. Haven't even hit classical stuff yet.

On the specs page for Kara F (and Kara before it) it states that the XLR and RCA outputs are selectable via front panel switch and remote. Is this accurate? I've seen no mention for this in the manual and the remote just has input select. Am I missing something, or is this a typo? I've been using XLR out to mono Ghorns since I've had Kara so never even tried the SE out, but am considering other amp options and it would be fantastic if I could actually just switch between the two.

Received the WiiM Pro streamer yesterday and got it hooked up within a couple of minutes.
Did the set-up and played some tunes.

The sound? Horrible. One dimensional, shouty mids, and thin bass with the eq set flat.
Let her play all night and surprise!! Very listenable this morning. Yay!
She should sound good running thru a big old stack of Schiit. :grinning: And she does.

Amazing how much technology is packed into a 5 by 5 inch box that sells for only 150 bucks.
