Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Here’s one! Very fancy and $$$$$!
Not inexpensive by any means, but when you get your hands on one, you'll get the design intent. It's beautifully handcrafted and meticulously finished.
And at least in my implementation, it sounds like absolutely nothing. <g>

With the store closed and Will gone, is there any telephone support still available?
Will was the only one who helped me; I never would have become a Schiit customer without his kind help.

Interesting. Some clarification perhaps then, as the spec sheet says 600mA heater current or less, so I read that as 6N6P not being compatible, whereas on the Freya N it was stated as combined under 2400mA, which meant you could use a pair of 6N6P's with some other pairs, like 6DJ8 or 6N23P.

Fairly moot point for me as I have no desire to use 6N6P for anything but Folkvangr output stage, but this may be useful for others.

Thanks!

Edit: and a follow up q: similar to Freya N/+ where pairs can be used in left and right sides? Or does this need a matched quad?
Yeah, we'll have to clarify that it's 1200mA max per side--so one 750mA 6N6P and one 350mA 6922 would work. I'm not sure what that will do to gain. It won't affect RIAA. Or not very much.

Ideally matched quad, but you can do pairs. Signal flow is same as Freya--right side is input, left side is output. Right channel is nearest the back of the chassis.

Jason, love the phono preamp. However, when you pull up the phots on the web page, why does it look like one of the caps is getting knocked off the PC board???? Seems like something that someone should have caught when they proofed the photos…...

It's commonly referred to as a lifted ground.

(I'll leave now.....)

Sounds like Hati is SS vs tubes and may or may not be a product someday...
I hope it is! I'm sure Stjarna is amazing, I just don't want to have to deal with tubes and always wondering, will such and such (insert mythical/unobtainium/ellusive/stupid expensive tube) be exactly what I'm looking for?

Thanks!

Stjarna isn't for me, I'll wait for Hati, or just get a Skoll. For now, I have no complaints with Mani 2.
I’ve been looking forward to the release of Stjarna, mostly because I wanted to read up on Jason’s process of developing it and his thoughts on how tubes are used in this application. But I’m not sure it is a product for me. I really like Skoll and I just don’t listen to LPs enough to justify Stjarna. I’d also prefer to save my money for the Valhalla 3

If Hati comes to market, then maybe that’s something I am more likely to seriously consider, but again, Skoll is working very well for me right now.

(Although… who knows… I might change my mind. I’m really interested to hear people’s thoughts once they get them into their systems.)

You can do what I do, borrow them from @bcowen then forget where you got them.🙄

I felt this way with tubes after years of playing....some really are into tubes and thats great...
I still have the vali 3 to muck with when I get the desire...lol
And a Ultravalve 6CA7 speaker amp that I do use to directly drive some of my headphones,,,yes directly hooked to it!! Be carful !!

Think I will muck around with Vahalla just because I want to see how its changed from Vahalla 2, which still on closeout at $250 which is another steal!!

Yeah, I've got a Vali 2 and a Saga + and have quite a few tubes for them, I don't need that in a phono pre-amp hehe.

Me, a few years ago: "Who needs tubes?! There's a reason why solid state has superseded them."
*buys a Mjolnir 2 out of pure curiosity*
Me: "Ooooooh, I see…"
Some folks want a SS amp to sound like an SS amp.
Some folks want tube amps to sound like tube amps.

Now we can discuss for ad nauseum what the definition on SS sound is and tube sound is....or is not.

Then we have amps that are SS that all kinds of circuit trickery (?) to make SS amps sound like tube amps...omg!!
Hardly ever see a tube amp touting its also like a SS amp....well maybe LISST?????

Funny how this hobby "rolls".....no pun intended!!
:>)
